Can't just trade a bunch of spare parts for Klingberg. He's going to cost you well more than that

Minnesota isn't ruining team chemistry. Dumba isn't getting traded and he's blocking the trade. Also we aren't trading our only good other c in nico .

I like the idea of trading Dumba to Philly for both teams. Philly lets Risto walk, Dumba would be a definite upgrade for next year. Minnesota stacks up on offence and opens up cap space for next year to sign Fiala. However don't think it will be happening at the deadline due to team chemistry.

Theres no way an expiring UFA Dumba is the key pl,ayer/prospect to PHI. After paying a hefty sum to BUF for Risto and letting him walk, no way do they give up their best 21-22 TDL piece for Dumba.

Another piece/player sure, and PHI would have loved Dumba instead of Risto back in the 20-21 offseason, but I really dont think they make that mistake of acquiring a UFA again.

Its not about fit, its about acquiring a guy who you need to play a key role AND almost have to re-sign him at any price, or like risto let him walk at a huge loss

Dumba has another year on his deal after this year, so is this under the assumption that PHI would just not resign him? The GM that drafted him and coach that raved about him are just gonna let him walk?

But a trade now, does what for PHILLY in 21-22? And they go into 22-23 with a second pair UFA RD? Any trade that happens this season for PHI is for 22-23, when Dumba is a UFA.

Its more likely that PHI re-signs Ristolinen for around what he makes now moving into 22-23.

Had this happened last off season, Philly would have gladly given up the Risto deal for Dumba, based on the relationship history, but Fletcher isnt going to move some big assets for ANOTHER shot at a UFA RD, that he has no leverage to re-sign

Dumba will be an expiring UFA in 22-23 yes, which means you could 1 if the team is as bad as they are this year, move him as a rental on a relatively cheap contract, 2 Im guessing you are saying that hes second pair because Ellis is also a RHD? Because he would be the second best D man on Philly, not an opinion, based on the analytics and MV. Not entirely sure why you would ever acquire a UFA then if you have no leverage to resign them, seems really stupid to me why anyone would ever trade for a UFA player then unless they are a rental because they don't ever resign.

AND YOUVE FIGURED IT OUT! Thats exactly what Fletcher has done with Risto, and my point is, he won't do it with Dumba. And its irrelevant whther Dumba is the best defenseman or worst on the Philly team, because as a UFA hes not part of a rebuild and hes not taking a huge discount if he sucks and he'd want a massive re-sign if he's good = no leverage.

No one trades for a UFA unless they are going into the playoffs or they have a re-sign strategy in place.

Fletcher did it for Risto, who was a risky choice, thinking the team was quality and could survive whichever Risto showed up, but injuries killed the team, so making risto a long term part of the team is more of a question.

Ultimately a UFA to be thwe next yr, (as you say going on IR in 21-22), to a team at the deadline out of playoff race never happens. Dumba has good value, but probably not to Philly, and certainly not at the deadline

Thank you for the update, Matt Dumba's agent. OP was obviously confused thinking Dumba may be willing to go play for the guy who drafted him and gave him a shot in the NHL, how silly of them.

Also that Philly probably isn’t on his blocked trade location list, but it’s okay.

Exactly, who knows where Dumba may be willing to go play. He could be looking to win a Cup, he could be looking to sign for the biggest pay day possible, he may be more willing to play on the east or west coast, or he might just want to play in a nice city with lots to do when it's not gameday. None of us know what Dumba is actually thinking so it's stupid to comment on.
