Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Ritchie, Nick
Additional Details:
As per the latest rumours in Leafs land - no description needed really. Leafs clear cap while Flyers clear contract spots for other deals to be made.

As for the players would receive in return, I can’t see there being any upside to any of them as they’re mainly gaining cap space. But bringing in Rasmus Sandin’s brother seems like an interesting fit, as well as 2 guys who can be significant AHL contributors but likely never see NHL time.

As for the Flyers, whether their fans like it or not it’s been reported that they at least have some interest in Ritchie. He fits their style of play and could exceed expectations if he’s used in the right role there and be a fan favourite.
2.
TOR
  1. Bastian, Nathan
  2. Severson, Damon
Additional Details:
Leafs have had interest in Severson for a couple of years (whether I personally like it or not) and he seems to fit what Dina’s likes to target at the deadline. He’s a puck moving defenceman that shoots right and has another year of team control beyond this one which makes him a decent fit in Toronto. He may not be a defensive style guy that they need, but it’s still an upgrade on what they currently have. A guy like Nathan Bastian would also be a good depth add for Toronto. He’s a speedy guy that can chip in a little offence but would mainly be used on the PK - he also comes with team control for multiple years.

Devils likely looking for higher end prospects that are closer to NHL ready rather than picks, so I think Amirov would be a target. A conditional 2nd that can be a 1st depending on team success is also added as the 2 main parts to the deal. This suits what Dubas talked about in his deadline press conference when it sounds like he’s hesitant to give up this years 1st and would prefer to use the prospect pool instead. Amirov was listed by Frank Seravalli as possibly available, along with Matt Knies. But I think Amirov is the more likely of the 2 to be moved. Justin Holl still brings value as a NHL defenceman on a cheap contract. He can play up and down the lineup if needed and is a very likeable guy in the locker room. I see him more likely than Dermott moved in this deal because of cap balancing issues - although both were shopped a few months ago. New Jersey also adds a mid round pick to help their rebuild in anyway they choose to use it.
NJD
  1. Amirov, Rodion
  2. Holl, Justin
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
*Conditional 2022 2nd round pick (TOR):
- pick becomes a 2022 1st round pick if Toronto advances to the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals and Severson plays in 50% of Toronto’s playoff games
3.
TOR
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Mikheyev, Ilya
Additional Details:
Simple trade to end the day off, with Toronto clearing cap and granting Mikheyev’s reported trade request. Colorado could use some help on the PK, and although Mikheyev isn’t a centre his defensive ability and speed are key for a 20th ranked PK unit (as of now). Mikheyev has shown a bit of an offensive touch this season as well, so the odd goal from a depth piece will help the Avs as well.

Personally, I don't mind the Ritchie trade and I'd say that's what Mikheyev's value ios, but, I don't see them trading Mikheyev. And the Devils trade is just complete over pay. I'd rather someone else than Severson at the price of ~4 million Amirov, Holl, Conditional 2nd that could be a 1st, and a 3rd

Severson sucks. I don't want him. Especially not if we're giving up Amirov.

You are terribly wrong about Severson, he's the best player to target. Unless you go the rental route and get Klingberg. However, i agree, you just don't move Amirov, or Niemela and Knies for that matter. Move Robertson, he's never going to get a real shot in TO.

I saw Marner play in a few games in the playoffs last year. He sucks. I don’t want him

We survived all those Dermott/Bracco offers back in 2020, we can get through this.

Mayhew's better than Ritchie but I'd be fine with Sandin and Clendening for him

In his “pretty good” year he has 3 goals in just 14 games. In every other season besides this one, Ritchie our scores that in his sleep.

I’m not saying it’s a dealbreaker to not have Mayhew in a deal, but you’re nitpicking over a career AHL player.. like come on dude.

There’s a 0% chance you have any info on that. No offence but your comment is irrelevant

NJ at the time he submitted his list was not a competitive team. Doubt he does not have them along with teams like Buffalo, Columbus, and Arizona on his list.

Its only logical as why go from a contender to a team who is not even close yet and whose in a tougher division. Only team for sure thats not on his M-NTC is his hometown Wild but I doubt they want him.

Not sure I'd give up a third for Mikheyev though he's definitely a guy I'd target in FA.
