I don’t think we get a top 5 pick. Most likely 7-10 range

I’d only do it if it was top 10 protected (if pick is in top 10, Minnesota gets Ottawa’s 1rst 2023 and Tampa Bay’s 2nd 2022).

I can’t see the wild wanting to do that. I know their fans are looking for a top 6 center in return.

A good prospect that’s close to NHL ready and a 7-12 pick range is a good return for Fiala. Especially for a team that has buyout penalties for the next 5-6 years

I mean getting a top 6 center is ideal, but a good cost controlled player with a pick would be a solid return if they end up trading Fiala. Rossi will likely be in the NHL next year so their centers could look like Hartman/Ek/Rossi/Gaudreau without making any trades.

There’s also Kadri available on the open market , if you end up trading Dumba and Fiala

He'd likely end up too expensive if he's on the open market even with those players gone. Guerin won't be able to afford being active on July 1st and needs to put the phone down until the 3rd or 4th imo.

IMO the deal falls apart if that’s the case. OTT is on the upswing and adding Fiala will only help. I’m not comfortable moving him for a 2023 1st and Jarventie. A good chunk of the value is in that 2022 1st, if you ask me.

It's the next 7 years. But it's only the next 3 years that will be particularly painful for context. After that, the buyouts drop from $14M to $1.6M for the last four years of the buyouts. Which is negligible at best. Especially if the cap has gone up by then. 🤷‍♂️
