I mean, if you're into prospects and picks more than actual wins, then sure, listen on Bunting. Guaranteed someone would absolutely send a solid package for him. Two playoff runs for under a mil? Sign me up. On here? Sure, you'd take some flack because large fan bases on here typically shoot for the moon when it comes to trading players, and people would likely get tired of the 45 "Bunting for a boatload" trades a day(See: Chiarot), but yes, a contending team would (should) offer a similar package for Bunting that a Hagel-type will command.

If I'm Chicago, I'm selling high on the 21% shooting percentage that is grossly unsustainable, but, given that he's pretty solid, cheap, etc., there's also no reason to just move him for the sake of moving him.

Circling back...main thing to remember here is that prospects and picks are for peasants. Not teams that have Stanley Cup aspirations. Tampa realized this, which is why they continue to be dominant. They got their core in place (Which the Leafs have done), continued to scout well in later rounds (Something that the Leafs *seem* to be doing), and snag a lot of undrafted kids out of the CHL to take a chance on. I get that prospecting is entertaining, but flags fly forever, dude.

Who are the insiders reporting that Chicago has turned down 4 offers including a first and A prospect?

tears of joy To be fair, I say the "Prospects and picks are for peasants" thing, but am also a Ducks fan that is on the hunt for prospects and picks at the deadline tears of joy

I guess I don't like the "Your proposal is dumb!" "No, your proposal is dumb!", or "Why?! He sucks! That guy sucks too!" thing here that some fan bases are infamous for. Pretty fortunate that our little Ducks crew on here is (reasonably) contained (Yes, we can also be outrageous at times, there's just less of us so it happens less often), and happy to sit in the corner discussing the easiest way to offer sheet Nick Hague this summer...tougher to contain when you have an absolutely massive fan base (See: NYR, TOR, MTL, CHI) represented on here.

*stokes fire...* "Remember that time that the Hawks gave up that absolute haul to get Seth Jones, just so you could have him 1 year before he back a UFA?"

4 x $4.1M, probably too much on term and value, but only gives up 2 2nds and puts Vegas in a very difficult position to match. Especially if another team does the same type of offer sheet on Nic Roy...not like I've been thinking about that for my team, either...

That's moved to sadness. I was very against that from the start. Seth Jones has been good for us, but you're EXACTLY right that the issue wasn't whether he's good or not. It's how much they gave up when they could have just waited 1 year.

Well he plays in our top 6 most of the season. Hawks don't have the offensive power to have true loaded lineup, so there has been a lot of shuffling from loading the top line to spreading the best players among the top 9 to give balance depending on matchup. However, when it comes down to the last 2 minutes of the game and Hawks are behind, you almost always see Kane, Cat and Hagel being on the ice the most mixed in a top 6 role.

That said, is Hagel worth a 1st and top prospect in isolation, no, but all we know is the hawks have declined at least 3 offers from teams that included a 1st and a good prospect and since they have no reason to trade hagel, the price is only dependent on what the Hawks will accept and 1 GM willing to give up not what fans or the market thinks he's worth.

tbh with you what you said in bolded is my main point, i get chicago wont trade him for less but it doesnt necessarily mean hes worth that

Hahaha, correction! 4.1 is only 1 2nd round pick...the plan has been in the works for a while!
-Trade Hampus for a haul.
-Trade Rakell for a 1st or something decent
-Trade Manson if you can get something reasonable, if not, extend him...fan fav, should be reasonably cheap, and eats the tough minutes.
-Use those assets plus a little to get Chychrun.
-Offer sheet Hague.
-Spread rumors that Jiricek is Logan Mailloux's bestie, so that he drops to us at 14-15ish OA.
-Sign Johnny Hockey or Forsberg.
-CREATE UTTER MAYHEM.

Note: I realize that this is unrealistic. BUT MAYHEM.

Hahah, oh yeah, nothing against Seth Jones, I'd love him on my team, but jeeeeeezus that package and the contract after a down-ish year was a big 'ol yikes.

I think the Islanders do that, especially depending on other possible moves. Kase gives them a solid winger, Rubins is someone they can give an audition on the left side if Chara & Greene are moved, and getting a 2nd to go with a roster player is enough to move Mayfield.

Nah disagree. Savard got a 1st and a 3rd with 1 year. Mayfields got 2 at 1.45. He gets a 1st at the very bare minimum.

I like Kase as player, so it's definitely influencing my response. I could see Lou doing Mayfield for a roster player & a 2nd instead of a 1st if he's serious about just doing a minor re-tool and contending next season. Rubins is a throw-in here, but there's not a lot of D depth in the Isles' system which is why I think he's worth taking a flyer on.

Im very scared of kase. Hes a solid player but i wouldnt make this deal at all. As for rubins yeah i wouldnt mind taking a flyer on him but for a late round pick.
