Flyers Trade Deadline Realistic

Created by: Clarky11
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 4, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It was between Compher and Jost as the roster player included in this trade by the Avs. I went with Compher because he makes more money, and the Av's seem deeper on wing. Also, with Kadri (probably) leaving in the offseason and Newhook sliding into that 2C maybe they would like to keep Jost as a 3C.
Flyer fans, especially casual ones, are going to want Newhook or Byram. That's not happening for a rental, even if it's the best one on the market. Meanwhile, Avalanche fans will think giving up Barron is too much, even for the best player on the market. They need to consider that '23 first is basically a second, remember Philly is retaining half Giroux's salary and that the Flyers don't actually need, or want, Compher. Meanwhile the Avalance should go 'all in' by trading for Giroux. He upgrades their horrible face off percentage, plays C or wing and plays on both special team units. Neither fanbase is happy here, which probably means it's a decent trade.

Boston seems like a good fit for a physical RHD like Ristolainen. The Flyers would like to resign him but rumor has it he rejected over 6 million already. At that price they should pass and try to recoup what they paid (A first, second and Hagg). They should at least get what Savard got last year from Tampa. I threw in a third from Boston because the Flyers retained half of that contract.

Couple of depth moves for the Leafs. Brassard has been productive when healthy, and Braun has been playing on the Flyers top pairing all season. Should he be? No, but he can move up and down a line up and is a good third pairing RHD. Braun could (possibly) get a second on his own, so adding a winger/center in Brassard for a fifth is gravy.

Edmonton gets Jones for a fourth. I mean they offered a fifth already for him and the Flyers declined. I Assume he goes for at least a fourth and I picked Edmonton because they've shown interest already...insert any team in there you want.

Keith Yandle has a no trade clause. Yes you read that correctly. He would probably waive to go on a run with the Bolts though. Tampa tosses the Flyers a seventh because...well you have to give up something.

the "1st rounder is basically a 2nd rounder" thing makes no sense to me. A 1st is a 1st. Itll be a late 1st but what do you expect when trading a 1 year rental? If the 1st wasnt going to be late then why in the world would the other team be trading for a rental?

Avs don’t have to trade Barron, flyers have limited options bc of giroux

They aren’t getting a teams top prospect when giroux is in control. Avs can add to their team without giving up Barron, flyers will need to make it work just so they get something for giroux, holding onto him and letting him walk is more likely than getting barron and a 1st from the avs

Giroux is definitely in the driver seat but he'll give them some options. Flyers will get a decent haul.

Just means that the prospect is a bigger question mark. Prospects in the late first, to mid second can be pretty tough to rank, just a teams personal preference.

But they don’t have the leverage in trade talks, I can’t see how they can get a teams top prospect and a 1st for a rental when it’s giroux who will hand pick where he wants to go, they will have to take that teams best offer or hope he doesn’t walk for nothing

Oilers decline, Jones isn't even a reliable backup

Gladly trade you our second rounder and Turris for Braun

Holland has already stated that he's not trading for a goalie at the deadline
