Habs are better off trading him for a pick to create a contract spot or actually extend him

Would Dermott + 2023 5th be something MTL would be okay with? Get a Roster player with contract control & a Pick

Pure Pick value what do you place Him at? A Late 2022 3rd? Or an early 4th + mid round in 2023?

Who dermott? Dermott is barely and NHLer. He’s a 6-7 guy and I’d say it’s more like a 5-6th round pick for him. Every team has a few guys like dermott, no ones trading anything of significance for him

This doesn't help if the goal with trading kulak is simply to create a contract spot so with a player coming back (obviously if they like the return it changes the pic) kulak is playing fantastic hockey now so they wouldn't mind trying to extend as a vet and a leader for the most likely new and young D core next season

The habs dont want Dermott period.

He is a negative value asset in a tight cap world. He is 25 and not a NHL regular still. Players like that should be making league minimum but he makes twice that.

Anaheim accepts. But I still think it's a mistake to exchange Holl for Manson, purely from a depth perspective. If you have both, you might survive one of them getting injured. If you have only one, you probably can't, or you wouldn't have had to make the trade in the first place.

If agree 100% if it wasn’t for the fact the TL is a legitimate NHL player. I think TOR has amazing depth on Defence but it’s the top end talent that’s the issue

I am not as hard on Dermott as others, I still think the Habs pass but also so do the Leafs. This is because it is a lateral move for both teams, Kulak and Dermott are extremely similar players. They are both worth about a 3rd or early 4th bit like others have said are more of 5-7 guys and are a dime a dozen.

Last few games...Reilly and Brodie have been poor, but somehow Holl and Dermot (or Liljegren) get the blame. Trading for a middling Dmen,Manson solves nothing.
