Chicago trade I would do

The CBJ trade mmmm nah

I have been eyeing Seattle for a while as they got some really good cheap wingers on expiring deals. Some of which fit our system well.

In general Chicago, Seattle, Anaheim, and Buffalo have intriguing packages to offer teams at the TDL.

Domi has the same amount of goals engvall does while being 100x worse defensively than him and getting top 6 and pp mins.
Why would the leafs do that?

CBJ accept.

TOR ACGMs: "Domi is awful no reason TOR should trade for him"

Also TOR ACGMs: "Here is a 2nd+ for Domi,"

TOR at the TDL: "Here is a 1st+ for Domi."

Dubas said though hes not trading a 1st for a rental. He has already rejected multiple trades for rental guys as soon as a 1st was mentioned per Friedman.

In general Domi really aint much of an upgrade over what we have. He brings a bit more toughness but thats it. He can make a play from time to time but even at 50% retained would rather go get someone with a bit more skill.

Spending a 1st and Robertson for a 40 point winger who we hope at least Robertson will be as good as as soon as next season seems really poorly thought out.

Remember

Hes getting those totals playing 3rd line in Chicago imagine him next to Tavares and Nylander. 50+ point winger potentially.

Cause Kerfoot rn had 39 points playing with those two. So if we apply a similar points per game rate Hagel would have 47 points rn in Toronto playing with those two and there would still be 26 more games to add more.

17 minutes a night and PP time isn't 3rd line minutes. He's top 6 in Chicago and wouldn't get much PP time in TO. Maybe he'd be as good as Kerfoot in the top 6. Why would you spend so much for something we already have? It's not like he's bigger, or faster, or more versatile than Kerfoot.

Hagel gets pp time which adds to his minutes. On a per game basis he usually plays 14-16 mins a night which is 3rd line minutes on most teams. Occasionally he gets 17+ mins but its not every game.

And remember Kampf. Well in Chicago Hagel was their 2nd best forward to put against elite competition

Kampf has been pretty good for us so bring in the other guy who played a similar role and were set. Plus he can score added bonus lul.

Hagel would provide a role more similar to Bunting, and the main thing is that he is making 1.5 against the cap with term as well.

Hes also a forward Chicago heavily trusted against elite competition

When we signed Kampf this chart came out explaining why it was good. Look who is right under Kampf's name lul

And when we see the impact Kampf has had why not go get the other guy to who can also add to the scoring

Im a fan of Hagel dont get me wrong, but the main reason why i would be in on him is because he performs at a top 6 level and is under contract for 2 more years after this one at a bargain

if we trade hagel the deal most likely has to include knies, hagel is super valuable to chicago rn and they dont want to trade him but knies would certainly entice them to talk it out and maybe work a deal

Major, major, major overpay. Hagel is another Kerfoot, or Johnsson or Kapanen or Mikheyev or Engvall. Just a depth forward. He's all hot right now but let's not go crazy here. He doesn't move the needle at all.

Bunting is doing great with Matthews and Marner but let's make no mistake, a lot of guys would do well in that spot. Would Hagel be great with Nylander and JT? Maybe, but maybe he would be the same as Kerfoot. Is paying a 1st and our top prospect for another Kerfoot make any sense?

Another Kerfoot that's twice cheaper for three years, younger and still developing?

At this stage, yes I think it makes sense. Is it an overpay? Yes. Would Chicago move Hagel without receiving one? Nah.

Then they can keep him. Hagel is a former 6th round pick who's been good sure but let's not pretend he's some high end talent. I would say Robertson alone has far more potential than Hagel does. And his price tag is cheaper than Hagel. This should be put to bed. Hagel is a depth forward. A good one sure but he's nothing more than what we have in Kerfoot or Kase or Mikheyev etc.
