Reworking team

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2022
Published: Mar. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure if any of these trades are a fit, but i hope I'm close on value. All these trades would take place this summer, except the McBain deal would be during the 21/22 season.
I'm not sure this is a good team, but i think it positions the Wild well through the remainder of the buyouts, so they could remain competitive.
I know there is no taxi squad just using it to show the Wild would cycle through Lambos, Hunt, and O'rourke for injury substitutions and 7th defenseman.

I doubt Buffalo would do that, as McBain will just wait until Aug to choose where he wants to play as a UFA.

No comment but the dumba one, the fiala one and the Beckman one is really really bad for Minnesota.

Yep, so many don't understand the concept of college UFAs. And McBain, he's an iffy NHL player anyway.

They are gonna get less value than they should considering they are gonna have cap issue and other GMs know that.

McBain wants to burn first year. So a deal will get done this year. I think it was Marek, who speculated Sabres would be a team interested.

This is what I'm thinking as well.

This offseason Wild would have to sign Fiala and Kahkonen and the Parise/Suter dead cap moves up from 4.7 mill to 12.7 mill. The following offseason they will have to sign Boldy and Dumba and the dead cap move up to 14.7 Mill. And I am only naming the big contracts they have to figure out. Would like to know how you think they won't have cap issue?

Kahkonen won't get much. Fiala will easily get a 1st and prospect at draft. Kahkonen's play dictates he's not getting paid much. Dumba loves Minnesota and so does Guerin who loves dumba and won't let him go. Dumba just recently bought a new home with his girlfriend in Minnesota and will take a hometown discount. Boldy will be restricted free agent coming off a elc deal, so wild can sign him to bridge deal.

Burn what? He would be a UFA with no salary restrictions. There’s nothing to burn by waiting until Aug.

Wrong. If Minnesota trades his right, he will sign a two year eoc and burn his right. So essentially 1 year deal then restricted free agent.. if he gets to August and sign, he can only sign two year deal and not be able to burn.

Burn a RFA year I guess, doubt that Buffalo would trade their second and again, he might not want to be in Buffalo and choose to sign a 2 year RFA contract somewhere else. Seems like a bad deal for Buffalo. Need an example? See Vesey, Jimmy.

He wants to play this year. Guerin isn't driving this trade McBain and his agent are. He wants to play right now.

I like McBain but 40th overall may be too high. He is a very good prospect but didn't take BC anywhere except 15-18-5, and his stats are nice but several BC forwards had stats that were almost as nice. Blossoming as a big kid at 22 is nice, but he isn't a blue-chipper.

I've got his value as a mid 2nd round. That's also the value I have Jacob Bryson at. Bryson could be on the MIN roster NEXT season, 850k as a solid solid solid 3rd pair LHD, and McBain isn't ready for a top-12 role, let alone top-6.

If MIN likes Bryson there's a trade there, but Bryson may not be the D you are looking for.

That’s fine, and I get what you are saying now. That said, Buf 2nd is steep for him, based upon the above information.

Not really. Calen addison will be up. Dumba is being kept. So Minnesota will have no room

Yes, it was something i heard speculated and probably wishful thinking cause Sabres pick is early, i do agree a mid to late 2nd is more likely.

It's still going to be similar to the Reinhart trade. He had made clear he didn't want to stay with the Sabres, yet he got a 1st and Levi
