Habs won't get that much value out of Hoffman. He's pretty good but too much of an uncertainty.

Not a chance. Hoffman and Chiarot are both terrible and that package would be more than enough for Giroux

Also I don't get why you think COL is desperate. They have a 13 point lead over the next closest team in their division and just shutout the 2nd best team in their conference without Landeskog or Girard

Chiarot getting a 1st is a stretch, Chiarot getting a batter package than Savard did last year is laughable.

Hoffman has 11 goals in 44 games, is 32 years old, and has 2 more years at $4.5M. He's almost definitely not worth a 2nd at this point, much less a 2nd & a solid prospect.

Cut what the Avs are sending out in half and -maybe- it gets done. 1st & a 2nd for Chiarot retained and Hoffman's full cap.

you'll be surprised wiht how little 1st round picsk will be traded at the deadline, the athletic just had an article breaking it down how its such a buyers market that if teams who are selling want anything for their guys they will have to take whats available, they dont have the leverage at the deadline.

I agree with most but Chiarot is twice the player Savard is (minimum), so why Chiarot getting more than Savard is laughable ?

They both play for MTL and Chiarot is miles better than Savard it’s not even close. Savard has improved and isn’t a pilon anymore, but Chiarot is wayyyyyyy better

what i'm getting at is that both of these posts are purely opinion - do you have any sort of statistical reasoning as to why Chiarot is worth more? i can sit here all day and say that Player A is better than Player B, but that's just opinion. saying something like: Chiarot is a negative possession player, and is worse than the rest of his team at driving play (46.0% CF at even strength, -2.4% CFRel at ES), has been outscored by more than a goal per 60 minutes at even strength (2.3 GF/60 vs. 3.4 GA/60), and that those negative numbers follow him to special teams (-2.9% CFRel on the power play, -6.7% CFRel on the PK). He's scoring at a career high pace due in part to career high shooting percentages and career high TOI, so it's hard to see him keeping that scoring pace up on a contender.

There's also the fact that there are more sellers than buyers this TDL, and that there are more quality D available this season - Hampus Lindholm, Nick Leddy, Mark Giordano, & Calvin De Haan are all pending UFAs who teams can pick and choose from in addition to Chiarot. Montreal might drag a 1st out of someone, but expecting to beat the Savard package from last year is silly.

Eye test shows Savard is closer to Alzner and Chiarot have been MTL best dman this year. For the return he’ll get, I don’t think he will get more than what Savard got but it wouldn’t be surprising if he does …

Maybe not today, but on March 21st you`ll see teams shedding 1st rd picks to beef up for the playoffs

The Only great deal at TDL was when the HABS got Vanek for a 2nd and 3rd. Teams have always paid a hefty price at TDL. No bargains available at that time

I watch every avs game and I have watched my fair share of Montreal games, Chiarot can’t skate or a pass, he has issues breaking out of his own zone,

So what did the avs get, the mean and toughness they craved in a dman while doing what they do best, dmen who can exit and entry the zone cleanly. Focus of need was prevent zone entries and they got a dman who does that well

So you just deny reality bc stats don’t support your personal opinions? Don’t be scared if stats

Chiarot was on the top pairing during the playoffs last year and they shutdown; Auston Matthews, Mitch Mariner, Pacioretty, Stone and so on. Playoffs are a completely different beast. You take the regular season and you throw it in the Trash. Chairot was a beast in last years playoff and will be one for the team that decides to trade for him

so if his regular season doesnt count, why are all Montreal fans claiming hes so good bc he is putting up points for the first time in his career this regular season
You cant have it both sides

Either hes only a playoff dman who actually isnt good defensively just got away with cross checking and grabbing, that has been tracked, he was bad. Him in the playoffs compared to the rest of the Montreal Top 7 Dcore in the playoffs

7th in CA/60
7th in SA/60
6th in GA/60 (only Kulak was worse)
7th in xGA/60
7th in SCA/60
6th in HDCA/60 (only Kulak was worse)

So where is this beast? Oh right hes wasnt

Or hes a bad dan in the regular season who is benefiting from increased offensive role bc Weber has been hurt. Pick a side, its not both sides of the fence
