I think Kane to the NYR's makes WAAAAY more sense than a lot of people want to admit. But I don't think this is enough, or maybe it is "enough" value-wise for only the rest of this season and next season, just not the right package.

Edit: My hope is that any Kaner trade would have him resigning with CHI after next season.

Hmmmm what's the right package then? Kakko/Laf aren't on the table for Kane for a year and a half. If there was some kind of extension in place, maybe but NYR can really afford to extend Kane anyway...

Replace Cuylle with Othmann and it's a lot closer. Also, I don't think CHI would have any interest in Chytil, but he does have some value. Probably change that 2022 1st to a 2023 1st too.

I think Lehkonen is an amazing fit in NYR. He works his bag off and can play up and down the lineup + an unreal penalty killer. That said, it seems Habs management is very keen to the idea of keeping him if an amazing offer doesn't come their way (ie. a 1st +). I think a team would need to overpay to get him which may force them to look elsewhere.
