Meh Detroit and Pittsburgh don't make good trading partners for Bertuzzi, Most of this is short term solutions not long term. Not really worth it if you ask me.

Now THAT'S a haul for Bert. I like the value but I also feel like using 4 players to acquire one can't be very good for a team that wants to have depth in the playoffs. Not sure it's in the best interest of the Pens to do this deal unless Detroit adds another depth player to pick up the slack. Plus, POJ could be replaced with a pick, Detroit is loaded with LD prospects and it might be better to just have a pick to address another need.

Throw in Nylander instead of Joseph and I'll sign the papers myself.

I don’t want the Wings to trade Bertuzzi but they’d definitely have to consider this.

It’s just too much for Bert. And I’m a fan. No GM trades two NHL players, both just 25 years old and under team control, plus two top 100 prospects, close to NHL ready, and a 1st round pick. And Again, I’m a Bert fan, but that’s a crazy price.

Take two 1st round round picks and a younger high-end prospect instead. The chances of them becoming Pettersson/Kappy or even smelling the NHL is less than 50%.

And Fans undervalue both Poulin and PO-J

Poulin and PO-J are two top 100 prospects on any top 100 prospect list out there. Yes, the Pens organization isnt full of “A” prospects/top prospects. But Poulin and PO-J are.

Another 2022 top 100 prospects list - Poulin #69. PO-J -#80.

You can’t find a top 100 prospects list out there(for the past 2-3 years) that Poulin and PO-J arnt in the top 100. And these arnt my opinions. These are NHL beat writers/NHL scouts opinions.

The fact of the matter is we will have to give up a lot to upgrade at wing. I prefer this over giving up Marino at this point. The 1st is late and worth the cost of getting Bertuzzi, Petterson is replaceable, Kapanen has been playing awful, and POJ Poulin you'd prefer not to give up, but Bertuzzi will be wirst a ton. Players like him are hard to find and he's exactly the type of player we need. If we can get a top 6 winger without giving up Marino then I'm for it.

I think Most Pens fans would say ok with giving up Petterson and Kappy. It’s just bad asset management though.

Two 25 year old NHL players, plus two top 100 prospects, plus a 1st round pick. For a winger. The least valued position in the NHL.

And again, I’m a Bert fan. But he’s never played a full season either. And like I said, wingers never being back that price. Obviously there is the most of them in the NHL. And winger is the most position that is available.

If that was Bert price. Pens would just move on to the next available winger. It’s just a stupid to give up all those assets.

Poulin, PO-J and a 1st being back a better player alone. A top pairing RHD. A two-way C and can move Carter to Geno’s wing. Let alone adding Pettersson and Kappy. And taking on Schmidt’s term.

Personally I'm not too concerned with our prospects and long term right now. We only have a few years left of Crosby and Malkin and I think we have to go all in. Someone like Bertuzzi I think is what this team is missing and could help more than most. And Boeser Garland I wouldn't be opposed, but we'd have to give up Marino. We need someone more edgy like Bertuzzi

Poulin, PO-J and a 1st being back a better player alone. A better winger for sure. Even a more valuable player. A top pairing RHD. A two-way C and can move Carter to Geno’s wing .Let alone adding Pettersson and Kappy. Horrible asset management this trade.

And taking on Schmidt’s contract and term is a bad deal too. It defeats the purpose of moving Pettersson.

If Pettersson gets traded, its for cap purposes. Not b/c he’s unproductive or unwanted. Having Pettersson as your 3rd pairing LHD is a luxury.

And the defense and Jarry is the reason the Pens are so good this season(1st or 2nd place team in probably the deepest division). Especially with Sid/Geno being out significant time and other offensive players having inconsistent seasons.

And a big reason they can move him is b/c of PO-j. He has proved he’s a more than capable NHL D-man. And even Friedman/Ruhwedel has been a solid 3rd pairing. No need for Schmidt if Pettersson gets traded.

And again, if this is Bert price. Pens move on to the next winger. 100% Cunucks take Poulin, PO-J and a 1st for Boeser or Garland. Garland isn’t a Burke/Hextall type player though. And to give up those assets, Boeser would have to agree to a long term deal. I don’t think any GM wants anything to do with his 7.5M QO.

Jets should accept, it opens up room for one of their many young D to play. Ville Heinola in particular
