You know, I don't think I've ever accepted a Bertuzzi trade on this site before, because
1. He's more valuable to the Wings than he is to the Canadian teams that fans keep trading him to
2. He's my favorite player and I'd love for him to also stay on my favorite team

This deal? Easy accept. I love Bertuzzi, but if he returns two 1sts (which will both be ~20th overall, thanks Leafs), a 2nd and Robertson there's no way I can say no.
Also, have fun trying to get Bertuzzi back and forth across the border

Maybe you can get a 2nd for Holl, but it won't be from the Kings.

Here is the Kings RD depth for next season: Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi, Clarke, Faber, Grans, Spence.

I very much doubt Yzerman trades Bertuzzi without getting a replacement player especially not when doing so would be giving up a 70-80 point production the first year in a long time the team has a chance of making the playoffs.

Bert has publicly stated that rumours about him wanting to be traded are false and that he wants to extend. Yzerman has publicly stated (as late as yesterday) that he will try to extend both Bert and Larkin as soon as it's possible from the 1st of July.

No way the Leafs give up so much for one year of Bertuzzi. The current edition is Muzzin is untradeable.

Trending towards easing vaccine requirements lately - kind of assuming it wont be an issue by next season. Obviously if it is then no deal.

I agree. Especially since he'd come back to Detroit when his contract is up.

No thanks Yzerman wants to resign Bertuzzi, And the only way Bert gets 2 1st is if Yzerman retains 50% on him. It's not a bad offer per say but Robertson is still unproven not many games under his belt. Detroit passes for now.

I wonder if next season, the Wings might trade upcoming UFA Bertuzzi to a contender at TDL, for lets's say a first rounder and prospect. That contender likely doesn't have cap for Bertuzzi and he returns the Wings....an upcoming and coming team that has cap. Wings might be good by 24/25 and might years of very good after that.

They're mostly lowball BS trade offers. Just like the Mantha ones were.

The 1st would have to be a lottery pick and unprotected and it would have to be very good prospect. Bertuzzi is just under a point a game and at this pace he will finish with between 30 -35 goals. Only Marner and Matthews have higher ppgs. He is currently 2 goals behind Marner and has 1 more goal than Nylander but both Marner(2) and Nylander(11) have played more games. I'm not saying Bertuzzi is better than the players I've mentioned but Bertuzzi has accomplished this playing on a bad team and until this season he and Larkin were the only players producing on a consistent basis. Now I don't know how to quantify GRIT but almost every single ACGM with Bertuzzi in it mentions adding grit, needing more grit or something along those lines. But what I do know about GRIT is there aren't many players that have it and if there were Detroit fans wouldn't be seeing the same offers for Bertuzzi every day and sometimes more than 1 a day. If Yzerman was really trying to move Bertuzzi he'd be gone already. Just like last season Bertuzzi being traded has been nothing but a rumor.

You did ask the question but I responded Leaf fans in general and by no means are the points I made directed at a single person. If you took offense to any of it I'm sorry it wasn't my intension.

My thinking it might be like what the Flyers did with Giroux. Giroux can't be resigned by the Panthers excellent chance he will return to Flyers next season....and those assets in the trade come back to Flyers.
Admitting Bertuzzi is in a lot better situation than Giroux is signing a long term deal with some team. And Detroit seems to be the choice him due to the the Wings cap, and the optimismof the Red Wings in the near future. Yep, I think Bertuzzi signs long term with Wings. He's their Brady Tkachuk (only better), more like Matthew Tkachuk er
Agree with you, Bertuzzi was never on the market this TDL

Oh, I took no offence. Thanks for clarity on a Wings fans POV about Bertuzzi.

And your comment about Leaf fans. Some just drive me nuts thinking they can rid of bad cap (Mrzarek, Muzzin) by trades then being able to sign better players for less $$$

I made the mistake of saying all Leafs fans in a post a month or so ago and I was put in my place and it was well deserved. I've been paying more attention since and that group of Leaf's fans isn't that big, most Leafs fans don't feel the same way and now I know that.

I understand where you are coming from but there are several differences between that deal and a potential deal for Bertuzzi. Giroux is 34 and his point totals have been on a steady decline over the past few seasons. Now he will finish with more point this season over last season but he has already played more games than last season and is still behind last years total. Bertuzzi is 7yrs younger and his production continues to go up. With Giroux it wasn’t if he is traded it was when will he be traded and if they didn’t trade him they would get nothing for him. Philly is about to enter a rebuild where Detroit isn looking to come out of one they have different needs. With no Wings game last night I read a lot of TDL grades and they were in the losers list a lot more than the they were on winners list.
