Beau is miles ahead of Zadina. Zadina was obviously seen as a lesser prospect when he fell in the draft and has done nothing so far. I understand that he has potential but Beau is much better and is proven and young. Islanders are looking to retool, not sell. Beau would take Zadina and a 2LD. Which the Wings dont truly have

Any Beau trade would be selling low on the player, so they're just better off keeping him and hoping for some positive regression (he entered this year shooting 12.9% and is only getting in at 7.5% this season - that's cost him 6-7 goals at this point.)

unrelated followup: while I'm sure there are times GMs will return a favor on a deal that helps them out, Yzerman did pretty okay here. He dumped a player he didn't want in Richard Panik, swapped an extra 2nd in a mediocre 2021 draft for an extra 2nd in a strong 2023 draft, ate some cash, and picked up Oskar Sundqvist & Jake Walman. Wings did pretty alright for themselves with Leddy.

...And we got mentorship for Seider. Moritz have praised Nick for the help he got.
