Wheeler Buyout Trade Schiefele and Stay Competitive

Created by: dfgfhfgtg
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2022
Published: Apr. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We hold onto Stanley for another season. Him and Heinola split the games. Rushing a defenseman can often backfire, especially if we give Stanley up for low value.

Have no idea if the Schiefele to NYR thing has anything to back it other than speculation, but I see Schiefele to NYR trades a lot and I think it makes sense both ways.

Pittsburg born Trochek will likely have better life style options in the Eastern Conference than sign with Jets.

I’m sorry to say but without those two there’s no way to remain competitive as no one will want to play in Winnipeg

Where's the cap space for that to work? Geno, Letang, Rust, Kapanen and more are going to need contracts at the end of the season. There wouldn't be enough space for Pittsburgh to sign him unless he takes a huge discount.

There's no way to stay competitive with them anyway but yeah it'll be hard to get players to want to come here.

I did write the Eastern Conference.....Sabres, Wings, Devils are three teams with cap and IMO can be good very soon. Winnipeg, looks like they have hit their peak. Life style? Jets have the probably the second worse travel schedule in the NHL. And I won't even mention the weather in Winnipeg for an American who has played most of his NHL career in warm climes.

Don't know how the Rangers can afford Scheifle without sending cap back in any trade.

Fair enough, I thought you meant Trocheck going to Pittsburgh that's my bad. But the Rangers should be able to find room for Schiefele, I'd retain a small amount of salary if necessary but I'd want another draft pick to do that for them.

Kravtsov is worthless, that trade is nowhere close.

I didn't say useless. He's worthless though. Malcontent, currently playing in Russia, may not be able to come back to NA, etc. He's the Rangers problem, they're stuck with him.

Sorry I mistyped. I still think worthless is a steep term for him though.

Start with untouchable prospect? I don't see Schneider going anywhere. Kaako might move but Schneider won't happen.

Okay. In the context of a trade for a PPG 1C on a great contract, Kravtsov is virtually worthless. Like if say the Rangers gave up 4 pieces, Kravtsov would be the 4th and least valuable. It's that better?

That's reasonable, he has the talent to be a good player though. Now if I added say Kaako and a third to this trade, would that be more reasonable to you?

That value is ****ing horrible and in no way would the Jets accept that.
Rags and Jets are terrible trading partners when it comes to Scheifele and people need to stop trying

Nope. He's a bust at this point and doesn't carry much if any value either. It starts with Schneider and the Rangers 23 first and goes from there. There are no other suitable starting pieces in the Rangers system.

Understood but you indicated that the value is “about right” and it’s not even close to being even. Rags make out like bandits here.

I think it’s best for the Rangers to extend Copp and keep our pieces, keep developing and have a stronger team overall instead of becoming more top heavy. 4-5 guys at the top won’t be enough to win, gonna need a full team top to bottom to try and win. Just my opinion.

Jets fans keep posting trades for players that aren't available, so you get what you give.

I’ve seen as many Rags fans post trades for Scheifele as I have Jets fans. Pot meet kettle!
And like I’ve said before, I wish they would stop

Its 95% jet fans adding Schneider to the trade. Its simply a pipe dream.
