Knies may be NHL-ready next season, so I doubt that Toronto would trade him for Pearson if the draft pick were your 2023 first, even aside from the negative cap ramifications.

From what I can gather from Detroit fans, they don't need anything. All their players are great and the team is stacked. I seem to have trouble balancing that belief with the results though.
