Bridge Dobson if he isn't willing to sign a matching Pulock contract (which I think would not be a wise decision for him anyways). Take that cap and address the forward group. I truly don't think Bailey is an Islander next year. That's the one move that should be made. Lou basically said after the deadline that the remaining games will be an evaluation period to see who stays and who goes. He knows he needs to add Defense, and offense for that matter. Bails can be improved upon

What a bridge deal should look like ?

Morrissey & Nurse signed a two years deal 3.15M a couple years ago

So maybe two years 3.5M ?

This is false, you didn't sign one 35+ year old, 4th line grinder, or even give a about to be 30 year old middle 6 forward way too much money and term. Lou giving a young guy money?

Sign Chara to an 8 year contract extension?

Seriously, it seems like Lou is going to double down on his veteran guys and try to win a Cup next season. As ridiculous as that may sound. Isles were my pre-season Cup pick. I believed in them.

Well we know that didn't happen. They were dealt a bad hand having to start the season playing 13 consecutive road games before their new arena was ready.

The vets will be another year older. I'm big fans of Lou and Trotz and I wouldn't count them out. Isles have been playing some good hockey and looking like themselves again. But they just ran out of track. Too little too late.

Dobson laughs at 3.5 mill x 2 . Anything more than 1 year will start at 5 mill

He’ll double down on most of his vets, but I don’t see Josh Bailey on the team next season

He already signed Parise! Dobson is an RFA and he’s having an elite season, he’ll need to get paid

the athletic writer suggested 3x7mil in a recent live chat. hope they just go for term, that feels insane for a bridge deal

It would be dumb to give him a bridge, but he’ll get 5.5-6 mill on a 3 year deal. He should get 7-8 years

barzal signed the same, but they all had stronger track records than dobson does. regardless, they have the cap now, no reason not to just sign him to the long term deal

These are the 3 realistic deals Dobson could sign IMO:

5.5 x 3

6.5 mill x 6

7-8 mill x 8

Of course but this is Lou we are talking about, he'll tell him to shave and have a cold shower and offer him a 2 year 2 million dollar deal because he hasn't paid his dues.

But that’s not what the market for defenseman is - That’s 3 mill under market value , Barzal was a RFA with no arb rights and he still got 7 mill x 3. Dobson isn’t signing for anything less than 5 mill.

Oh I don't disagree, I just think Lou is terrible and has been lucky the past couple years. He's cratered the Islanders but it won't be absolutely clear for another year yet. B

Buddy what does that have to do with Dobson’s contract, you just made no sense lol - I can care less what you think of Lou, Dobson is an elite defenseman and he’s going to get paid close to what he’s worth.

For your sake I hope so. However I fully believe Lou tries to grind him and then lose him to a offer sheet
