I'd say Ylonen and Poehling - RHP gets a fair shot too but may be a mid-season call up.

I think 2 of Harris/Guhle/Norlinder/Barron will start out of camp.

I think Harris and Barron have both shown (in limited games) that they can handle the nhl pace, i expect them to make it directly out of camp, Ghule may be a call up a little into the season, and currently idk if Theres a spot for Norlinder i wouldnt be shocked in he was included in a deal down the road. Also thats with the assumption that Petry is gone.

Me personally? Harris definitely and let the other 3 battle it out. Barron has the experience, Guhle has the ceiling, and Norlinder has the age. It'll be great competition! Factor Xhejak/Fairbrother/Brook/Scheuneman in there - pre-season could be a blast to watch!

i didn't put xhekaj and fairbrother because i think they won't be ready yet and i didn't really count schueneman as a prospect

Ylonen and Poehling

Harris.

I would like to see Barron in Laval until mid-season.
It's SHL or AHL for Norlinder. He's not ready for NHL
Guhle need at least one year in Laval.
Brook won't be back.

I hope Montembeault re sign and we trade Allen.

I can see a couple of Harris, barron, and guhle making the team, but I doubt it.

Edmundson - Letang
Romanov - Savard is the top 4

I know Habs rather the 3 young dmen to play top 4 pp and pk in the ahl, rather than only 9 - 10 minutes per night in the nhl on the 3rd pair

Poehling is not a rookie anymore, last season was his rookie season.

As far as the forwards go, I think IF we get Wright he definitely starts any other drafted player goes to Laval. Yelonen gets a shot if one of Drouin, Hoffman, Armia or Byron are not with the team anymore. I think outside of that Roy might get a 10 game stint and the same with Heineman but unless they really light it up the will both be in Laval. Mysak for me is a dark horse, he is sneaky good and could surprise coming into camp, everyone else is Laval bound up front.

As for the D only 3 names stand out for me, Barron has a spot to lose due to our lack of RD depth. Harris has shown well as well but he is not replacing Romy or Eddy in the top 4 so if Guhle shows he is NHL ready and can keep up with the pace I feel like Harris might end up in Laval as well. the caveat of course is barring trades or FA signings, cause that would change everything.

i love guhle's maturity but i don't think he'll take harris's place. even more so if harris plays more games until the end of the season. for the rest i completly agree!

Guhle is the closest we have to a Weber replacement and he is already NHL ready to boot. IMO he is the #1 prospect we have in the system.

i agree but Harris is at that point were he needs to be in the nhl because he's played against man and dominated. guhle can still learn from going to the ahl and facing older guys.

I don't disagree with Harris, I like him I really do but I think Guhle will surprise at camp and force the issue. Either way it is good to have so many options available LOL.

Harris played on the right side as much as the left if not more in college, just thought I’d drop that little piece of info in there.

To answer your original question though…
Poehling, Ylonen and RHP are locks in my opinion on offence. I’m a big fan of RHP and the way he’s played in the AHL the last 2 years should be more than enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. Roy only gets a spot if he proves he can stick in the top 6 otherwise he goes down and Heineman spends a year in the AHL. Any pick not named Wright spends another year in juniors, college or overseas.

On défense Harris is the only clear choice in my opinion. His game just looks to be NHL ready, such a great skater. Barron really depends on if Petry gets moved and they don’t replace him. Guhle I see spending a year in the AHL unless he leaves the Habs no choice during camp. Brook may not even be back and I wouldn’t be surprised if Norlinder is used as a trade chip with the logjam on the left side.

i like your take and for me Roy is the guy to look at. i think that with his performance last training camp he showed he was not far away from the nhl and that,s why i'm very looking forward to seing him next year.

Me too. For me though he plays top 6 or he goes back down. But I have this dream that he gets a chance with Suzy and Caufield and becomes the missing piece. It may be too early to expect that from him but just think:
Lefty
High hockey IQ
Good puck skills
Great shot
One can dream can’t he?

i disagree there. caufield and suzuki are struggling at 5v5 so i'd like a good puck carrier next to them and i don't think that's Roy. i see someone like ylonen being more effective there

Well Ylonen has the wheels but I don’t know if I see him as offensively creative enough. Could be an interesting experiment though.

the entry zone really seems like the biggest problem for caufield and zuk and ylonen showed that it's one of his strength. that's why from the guys we have now he seems like the best fit
