I like your post a lot, especially the ability to finely express all the moves. I agree that Scheif could be moved in case we find a solid 2C with good defensive play to replace him, someone like D. Strome or even J. Toews with retained salary. I am afraid Perfetti isn't ready yet for the 2C role plus I believe Stas could be more useful as a def oriented winger these day. On the other hand, if he goes to 2C with speedy young guns, whatever. I also agree that even that one year of Scheif has a lot of value considering the cap.
What I don't understand at all is moving DeMelo. That contract is an absolute steal, his defensive play is in the NHL's TOP 10 (yeah, no kidding!), he is an analytical darling. Wouldn't even consider moving him.
On the other hand, Stanley has been nothing but brutal. Yes, completely brutal. That guy is big and has a strong shot which is pretty much all he does. I know I am going to be hated for this but man, the sooner we move him for any asset the better, at least now when he has at least some value.
Dillon needs to go. IMO him and Stanley just don't have their place on LD now with Jmo, Heinola and Samberg.
Great take on Schmidt. Altough I absolutely love the guy, he is too offensive minded to be played on the 3rd pair. If he stays, though, it wouldn't be the worst problem the Jets might be facing. Ideally I would like to see something like:
Morrissey - Pionk
Heinola - DeMelo
Samberg - Lyubushkin/Saucy
Also I would definitely bring an experienced bottom 6 guy, someone like ZAR / Motte / Janmark to replace Harkins. We need that grit and def play too.
