I don’t mind paying a 3rd for Wood

Is Blackwood's value that low? Has this season been that rough? I know his save % and GAA isn't great but I'm sure had something to do with half of the team on IR at some point this year.

Why would you just throw Blackwood and Zacha away like that? Wasteful.
Better to Blackwood and let him share a net with someone that's actually somewhat reliable for once.
Also better to use Zacha instead of Walsh for that Fiala deal, Devils are short on future RHD as is.

The games he played this year he was likely dealing with lingering heel issues.
Adding Zacha on top of that makes Devils lose this trade even harder.

Edmonton simply doesn't have the cap space.

And anyhow, Skinner is trending well ahead of Blackwood and Holloway likely gets that top-9 LW spot over Zacha. I could see Edmonton being interested if money was going back and Skinner wasn't involved, but I don't think this makes sense for them as constructed.

From a Wild Fan's perspective - this seems a little low. There will be 10+ teams calling on Fiala - however, I do agree that everyone is saying that he is probably the odd man out. That being said - if he were to sign a contract below $7M I think they would move money out in kulikov/Talbot/gaudreau/hartman to make it work. I think he will be looking for 7.5+ (rightfully deserved based off current level). All of this being said - if he plays the way he has since the new year, they will move Dumba to find the money - there is no way they cannot do that with a NHL ready RHD as well as 1 A level D prospect and 3-6 B level D prospects.

I think the Devils need to dig a little deeper into the bag of prospects to get Fiala, but they're one of the teams with enough of those to make it happen if they really want to.

Minnesota is basically going to have to choose between Fiala & Dumba this offseason, it looks like. Unless someone decides to offer sheet Fiala lol no we know that won't happen
