Yeah it is. But I suspect that Hughes would be vilified if he moved that pick and lost Shane Wright. Plus, the Habs would be really set down the middle with Suzuki and Wright so it really doesn’t make sense for the Habs. But would be interesting from the Jackets side.

Agreed - especially since the draft is hosted in Montreal.

Should fans be allowed there, they'd tear the whole place down if Bettman walked to the stand to announce that trade.

Let’s say that’s exactly how the draft played out. If I’m jarmo I take the top 6 center prospect and top right shot d prospect plus the second over the 1# center prospect (as Hoffman is almost worthless to the jackets, too many wings). We need good defenseman. Especially on the right side. Wright would be amazing and I would love to have him. But I don’t know if I want to put all my high picks into one guy, who is unproven at the nhl level.

It doesnt make much sense from Montreal's end. The habs have 10 picks in the first 4 rounds and 3 picks in the first 35 picks. If they want a second 1st round pick that is in the top 15 or so they have the resources to do it from the other end.

By most pick value charts the cgy 1st and the habs 2nd (assuming 27th and 34th spot respectively. ) are worth a late teens pick. throw in a 3rd and a 4th and getting there shouldnt be difficult.

Personally I think thats what the habs draft strategy is going to be. The prospect pool is deep from drafting extra players the last few years AND we pulled in 3 higher end prospects at the TDL the only way to make meaningful improvements are at the top end. The habs have 10 picks in the first 4 rounds I would honestly be shocked if they draft more than 5 players in those 4 rounds

I was just messing around.. We will draft Wright if we receive the first.. But if the team doesn't like Wright it is a possibility wink
