Calgary is going to need to clear some cap for Tkachuk and Gaudreau so why would the habs need to include harris in this deal? Seems like an over pay for a guy that has been a healthy scratch this year. I like pursing Monahan but not at the expense of one of our key young dmen.

MTL aren’t trading Harris who will play in the league for 10 years for a 1 year rental not needed

Monahan isn’t netting positive assets, especially Harris. So MTL declines.
Drouin is worth little if nothing to other clubs and I don’t think Poehling gets you Crouse. So Arizona declines.

In my opinion, Crouse can fetch a 1st and a (prospect or roster player) not Drouin and Poehling. If Mtl add a draft pick or Stapley then Arizona might say yes but Drouin salary is a bit high for Yotes.

I wouldn’t even say that. Both players are bottom 6 severely declining players due to injury with 1 year left on their contracts. The difference is that Monahan is making 3 million more. Asset management would dictate MTL doesn’t do a swap without some kind of incentive.
