We are not trading Tuch.

His value would be way more than that anyways.

Oh no but, I’m basing it off the Buchnevich and Reinhart trades so it must be right, right?

Buch & Reinhart were RFAs that were 1 year away from UFA and needed a new contract.

Tuch is signed long term with a great contract.

I get the point you're making here but the Devils don't have a 14M buyout looming with a budding ELC superstar to pay. So this is a really bad comparison. You're getting lowball offers for Fiala because you can't (or won't according to Russo) pay him.

Thats not close to Tuchs value, let alone the value from the Reinhart trade. Reinhart got a A+ goalie prospect and a 1st. Greenway is a mediocre 3rd liner. Idk what point youre trying to make, but youre not making it (this isnt a Sabres decline post, This is a I dont understand what youre complaining about post because nothing is lining up)

Only return we'd accept for Tuch would be Viktor Rask 1 for 1. but you guys waived him so we will have to decline sorry

What if the Wild sign him this summer to the Connor McDavid deal since he's a superstar sniper and surely someone will give him that much if the Wild don't? I was able to sign a UFA and immediately trade them in NHL '14 so surely it works in real life.

Devils trade is BRUTAL.

You can't base it so much off a career year. Buch didn't blow up like this yet.

Also, everyone panned that trade from the get go.

I’m actually just shocked that teams made trades before the Reinhart and Buch deals. With how often this site references those, I just can’t possibly imagine a world in which we don’t have those as precedent. Like it must have just been pure chaos trying to value players without those magnificent comps to draw from.

Obviously Sammy Blais and round 2 for Buchnevich was a serious underpayment.
Especially considering how much the Rangers miss his scoring, what a bust Blais has been and the Rangers are $4,901,762 under the cap.
Less than the difference between Sammy's and Pavel's AVV.
I have no idea what Drury had in mind when he made that trade.
Pavel and Sam have certainly thrived in St. Louis (on their top line with Thomas and Tarasenko) and Florida respectively.
Reinhart on the other hand, did return a first, and an awesome GK prospects.
At first when I saw it was a first and a player picked in the seventh round, I was deeply disappointed.
After examining Levi's record, I was more than satisfied.

EDIT: Let me add, the Panther pick to the Sabres is currently 32nd, the Blues pick to the Rangers is currently 57th.
Levi projects to be a #1 GK, Blaise has 4 assists in 14 games before he was injured.
