Yeah Palat isn't signing with Tampa just to be traded to Chicago. Not happening he'd have a NTC and he's not waiving for a team heading towards a rebuild.

V-E-R-R-R-Y close on the Los Angeles trade.

Just substitute Mikhail Sergachev for Ryan McDonagh.

I'll bet on the best goalie in the world over the team that's 27 in hits that hasn't won A playoff series since 04

Lol I mean while it is possible and we've seen random goalies come in and win cups (binnington, murray, etc) I certainly don't believe it. I do have faith in Campbell's ability to bounce back a bit and give us good enough goaltending to allow us an opportunity to win.

I think a TOR-TBL series would be very, very close.

Just don't think TML are physical enough for the playoffs. i see A TBL-TML series like TBL-CAR 2ND round last year all really close games but 5 maybe 6 before leafs go golfing

I disagree. I don't think you have to be overly physical to win but you have to be able to stand up for yourself when needed and be able to push back when needed. Especially when you have the #1 PP in the league and teams will be nervous to take penalties.

The core players are getting older, Matthews and Marner have stepped up their physicality when needed. Bunting, Simmonds, Clifford up front are pretty physical. Muzzin, Lyubushkin, even Gio is physical enough for what we need. Our D is a lot better this year.

Physicality doesn't need to be branded in your team's identity to win a cup. You need some physical support available but you don't need it. Last night's physical game against Washington was a good example of this. Wilson ran Campbell and Leafs stood up for themselves with a Clifford fight, hit when appropriate but still played their brand of hockey. More pushback from the team this year as they get older for sure, but they still play their game.

If they lose it won't be because they weren't hitting enough, either the stars won't get it done or the goaltending woes will fail us. Tough first round matchups for really anyone in the east except whoever plays Washington, but this team is more playoff ready than teams of the past.

That's what Carolina thought last year too, and until someone beats Vasilevskiy I'm betting he out duals his counter part

oh for sure beating Vasi is very difficult but zero to do with the physicality.

And I mean no debate in the playoffs there's no goalie I'd rather have. But he has been beaten before so the "until someone beats him" doesn't quite work. But 100% get what you're saying. I think TBL has the advantage in goal come playoffs but I think the Leafs have been better than Tampa this season, hence why I think it'll be a close series that could go either way should we meet. If we get average or above goaltending and our stars show up the sky is the limit.

Yeah but it's a different Vasilevskiy since CBJ in19 i still don't think you're correct on the physical play of TML ,but i could be Wrong (doubt it).

But like physical play has not once been the reason why we lost a series. Having not missed watching a playoff game in the Matthews era, that was the common outsider narritive but just was never the case. It was the young guys not being able to get over that hump some years, and some years it was the defence - sometimes a combination of both. The defence is shored up pretty well now especially from what it was in those Boston series, and the stars are just going to get more comfortable with the playoff spotlight as they get older.

If we lose, physical play will not be the reason.
