That won't get us Theodore...
I'd rather have Olofsson than Comtois

As horrible as their cap situation.

I say no thank you for Anaheim. I’m still betting on a bounce back for Comtois

Asplund has 133 games in the NHL and has scored 16 goals and 25 assists. Ruotsalainen has 35 games in the NHL of no particular distinction, and Portillo has yet to sign an NHL contract. The draft pick will be no earlier than 27th overall. Shea Theodore is an All-Star. That package would be bad for Las Vegas (which has many more preferable ways to dump cap) for Theodore alone, and you want them to add a heavyweight bottom-6 forward and their back-up goalie?

I like the idea of ripping off Vegas, but they're passing on that.

I'd just keep Oloffson rather than offer up him and Bryson for Comtois.

I agree that the value isn't there, might not even be that close. Vegas is giving up 3 roster players for futures and Asplund essentially (their caps kinda ****ed but this is still a bit overkill)

That being said, Rasmus Asplund's offense may never really get there but he's pretty solid defensively,

Ruotsalainen has had quite respectable AHL numbers, not sure what his NHL upside is and its seeming increasingly likely he goes to Europe this summer

Portillo should be looked at as solid goalie prospect, could he be better than Brossoit next season? Maybe. Will he be the better goalie in 4-5 years, most likely, then you have the first which is what you make of it I guess.

Not saying the trade was great, think the package could be closer to getting Theodore than you'd think

Not a Comtois doubter by any means, was sad to see him unable to take the step we expected this season.

You know what you have with Olofsson tho, pretty elite release/one timer and can immediately make an impact on your power play, he'd prob score a ton playing with Zegras.

As a sabres fan, I wouldn't want to go thru with the trade overall, Bryson could fit into a different trade and Olofsson could still reach 30 Goals without injury or hiccups

My thoughts on the Vegas trade is that they have to shed cap and Theodore does not have any trade protection. Does he become available now that they have Pietrangelo? Also Vegas gave up Nate Schmidt a couple years ago as a cap dump for a 3rd rd pick after giving them 3 solid years.

Sabres need to capitalize on Olofsson this off season while his value is good. They don't need to pay him 4-5 million a year when they have Quinn and Peterka coming up that will cost less and give you the same production.
