Not intending to draw the ire of Oilers fans, but who among us genuinely knows what Kenny is thinking at any point in time? It's like trying to untangle the thoughts of a madman...anyway, here's my team if Draisaitl wants out and Holland impulsively goes bananas.

Bert, Veleno, Zadina would need replacing. I can't really see Stevie making a splash in FA, but I've taken the risk and added local boys Rust and Copp. Another local boy waives to come home from a team who are being financially irresponsible with their cap. They can have their fourth back. A short tenure for Martinez while we gradually see what we have in our deep pool of LDs.

If Leon Draisaitl isn't happy in Edmonton, He sure as hell isn't going to be happy in Detroit. And no thank you not giving up on Veleno and Zadina just yet. Holland can keep Draisaitl we just need to draft and develop or future 2C.

That's horrible for Detroit.

Draisaitl isn't going to score 100 points on a team with our defense.

This team will be up against the cap in a years time and way over it in two years time when Seider and Raymond needs new contracts.

I'm not sure how many Wings games you watched this season but Larkin took a big step toward being a #1C this season. He was able to stay on the 1st line with Raymond most of the season. Now if Bertuzzi was able to stay with Larkin and Raymond for the majority of the season. With Vrána and Fabbri healthy even if Yzerman can't find #2C to play right away and Suter is our are #2C again Detroit will be scoring a lot more next season.

With those lines both Suter and Rasmussen are both better options at center than Sundqvist.

It has nothing to do with value and everything to do with fit and long term strategy. With where Detroit is at, it makes no sense to move that many very good pieces for a great piece. Draisaitl is obviously a generational talent and I think Edmonton would be bat**** crazy to trade him too and no ask is really too much for a player like him, but that doesn't mean that it's going to be a fit for the other team, regardless of value.
