Nemec and next season possibilities

Created by: Point21
Team: 2022-23 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2022
Published: Apr. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hypothetical trade, if Nemec dropped to 3rd overall, would this be enough to land that pick?

That team gets Sergachev who could slot in on the top pairing. A young RHD Prospect in Jack Thompson who had 57 points in the OHL and can be in the AHL next season. A 1st rounder this year, and a 2nd in 2024 (could also be a decent prospect like Powell or Groshev)

Tampa gets a top RHD prospect in Nemec who could slot in this year or spend a season overseas and come over in 2023

Anyone that is a scratch would be AHL players that can make team out of camp

I think that would be an easy yes from whoever ends up at 3rd overall.

Seattle is in no rush, they probably just take their guy and develop their own core.

However as a Devils fan I might be interested here.

Yes they are in Win Now mode but at the same time, they have to sign Sergy, Cirelli, Cernak, and Colton in the 2023 offseason. Sergy would be the most expendable with Hedman and McDonagh locking down the left side.

They trade one of them but not until they have too that's the point I'm trying to make

could also help retain some players this offseason as well, with Palat, Rutta, and Paul all needing to be resigned

that should easily be enough, unless if Wright or Cooley are somehow on the board

Like it makes sense with staying competitive for longer but I don't think Seattle is the team and getting a dman this draft will be hard with only 2 top guys feel like tampa keeps the pick drafts a dman and then trades sergy at the 2023 draft for someone that immediately helps them rather than a younger player

Tampa shouldn't do this. If Nemec turns into a bust then they really have no prospects, because these are their only high picks, and their best prospect

i think it depends on the team. even though the value can be fair, not everyone with the 3rd pock should consider it. rebuilding might make.more sense or they might not even have the money to add sergachev and an elc would be a big difference.

well there is more chance that the other picks combined are bust than 3rd overall

Tampa passes. They wouldn't need to move up to 3rd overall anyway, and they could get 1 or 2 high quality prospects and a pick for Serg, without having to add two early picks and one of their best prospects. Easy decline.

With how much people are offering for chycrun Tampa could probably get the 3rd pick for sergachev straight up
