If Petry could’ve returned that, he would’ve been traded at the deadline.

He’s not going to get that much from any team.

Petry got 20 points in 29 games under St-Louis. MTL isn't trading him for nothing.

He said today he spoke with his family, and if he was to stay in MTL, they would come back to live with him next year.

MTL doesn't need to trade him this summer, they can wait until they get a decent offer. Today, Hughes said if he traded Petry, he'd have to bring another D vet.

And Dallas isn’t trading one of their only good defensive prospects plus a high enough pick for another old player on a sizeable contract.

If Montreal values him higher than everyone else, chances are he’ll stay there and give them good production for the reminder of his contract.

Another day another batch of Montreal fans trying to ship Drouin to Colorado for some reason.

Drouin to COL again? Wow, what a surprise, very original proposal.
Unfortunately, COL has no interest, nor would most of the league, I. Drouin and his contract.

You've got the pick and prospect going the wrong way in the Gallagher trade. You gonna have to pay to dump him on LA.

Anyone taking Gallagher without 50% retention shouldn't be an NHL general manager.

    Couple of things here.

    1. Gallagher said he wants to be I'm Montreal, therefor the most likely scenario is he gets another half season minimum to prove this year was the outlier.

    2. After hearing Petry's and Hughes' pressers there is mutual interest in Petry returning to Montreal. Therefor I believe Petry (and more importantly, his family) will return next year.

    3. Drouin is either bought out (my personal preference since he missed so much time for personal reasons and I believe he deserves the chance to go to a team with less pressure or retire on his terms) or traded for a 2nd or 3rd without retention but with the condition that he has to play a minimum of 70 games.

Drouin will play in Montreal next season to re-establish himself and get traded at the deadline if he performs. It's both the Habs chance to get a return on him and Drouin's chance to not play in the AHL next season.

Right now he's toxic and no team in their right mind is touching him.

I wouldn't say he is toxic, sure he has personal issues but so far there have been no reports of him letting it spill over in the room. I don't think it is in anyone's best interest for Drouin to start next year in Montreal. I think it is best for the Habs to move on and it's best for Drouin's mental health to move on as well. I just don't know if Drouin wants to continue in hockey or not. It doesn't even seem like he really knows at this point either.
