If 55 has to go light forward retool

Created by: bikelh

Description
I dont think this is very realistic, but I think next year should be a kinda in-between year. Play loose, see what Perfetti/Samberg/Heinola can do in the lineup. And re-tool the forward core a bit to run 4 lines with Lowry as a top tier 4th line C.
Moving Dillon probably wouldn't get the assests back we gave up, so might as well keep him and see if a pair of him and Ville works out.
Obviously the defence is missing a true 1D, but running with the kids is probably gonna give better results than whatever happened this last season.
Still have capspace to make moves if necessary as well.

Not even worth trying to gauge returning value right now, I imagine Chevy looks to the Eichel return as a model. He probably doesn't get that, but a 1st, prospect and roster player should be doable. (I do not envy Chevy's job rn)
    CAR
    1. Scheifele, Mark
    Additional Details:
[NOT NECESSARILY CAROLINA] A lot of teams will be calling on Scheifele I'm sure. If Carolina loses Trochek to FA, there might be a fit? If Scheif isn't part of the leadership group in the room, the whole "locker room" thing shouldn't be as big a deal. Especially not with RBA running the room.

      4.

      1. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Strome can stopgap 2C/split middle 6 centre jobs with Perfetti, and it gives a lot of strength up the middle
      CHI
      1. Reichel, Kristian
      2. Vesalainen, Kristian [RFA Rights]
      3. 2022 1st round pick (WPG)
      Additional Details:
I honest-to-god saw this proposed by a Blackhawks fan with a 2nd instead of the late first. Seemed waay low to me, so I upgraded it to a 1st. (Tbh it still seems pretty low value but maybe you guys can help me there)
      Pick is 14OA (I think)

I feel like Carolina is pretty happy with Kotki's development and probably want to bring back nino. Not to mention they have to resign Necas and ADA

Interesting, I would be interested with that 1st round pick and Id think the hockey club would be also heading into the rebuild. The only variable I think would be on the prospects coming with the pick.

On the right track with this proposal IMO. And I'm one of the guys who has stuck by Strome being a supporter of his.

Yea I could see how it might not work, just was kinda spitballing teams there. I wouldn't be surprised if Carolina calls, but I think the first ask from Chevy is either Necas/Jarvis, which I imagine is a no-go for the Canes.

I agree neither Vesalainen nor Reichel move the needle very much, but there should be a pretty good player available at 14OA this year. I think if there were a better prospect involved the Jets would probably push for the pick to be downgraded to the late first from the Rangers conditions or a couple 2nds.

What exactly has made Strome’s value skyrocket? He was worth like a third round pick at the beginning of the year. Chicago should take this and run. Strome is nothing special

I can't say I watched a lot of Blawkhawks games this year, but just looking at his counting stats and analytics he seems like a perfectly reasonable 2C. The 14OA pick is the main piece with value going back. If you look at the last 10 14OA picks I'd say only 2 are better players/had better peaks than Strome right now (Farabee and McAvoy). Obviously hard to tell with the most recent few, but I don't think its that much of a long shot.

let me preface this by saying that i absolutely love strome and am very glad to see him having success. that said, if his value was anywhere close to 14OA to non-chicago nhl teams, he wouls not be a hawk right now. they tried to shop him at the deadline at the peak of his scoring streak and got no takers. with so many 2C options (his brother, trocheck, copp, kadri, etc.) on the market as UFAs this year, i just don’t see how they get that much for him. imo they’re better off just signing him and hoping he can show enough consistency to raise his value to other teams at the next deadline, but they seem to want to get rid of him.

Jets accept. I like all those trades but wonder if Scheifele will really "get many calls" as you're saying. I went through all the NHL teams and it seems to me that only logical place to lend him is either CAR (to play a W though since Rod would most likely not allow him to play C) or BOS (which can actually go the 2C Haula way since Berg might sign another year). A lot of sense makes MIN but not next year since the big cap buyout but the one after. NYR most likely signs Copp to 2C. And maybe COL as Kadri replacement? Dunno, not that familiar with Avs situation

Friedman on the market for Scheifele:

"Its going to be big. The market will be big. Scheifele will be motivated because he only has two more years left at $6.1 million. Everybody can handle that contract who wants to handle that contract. Its going to be big market. Very big market. Can't find top two centres in this league."

From yesterday's edition of K&R where Friedman was the last guest. With a big market in the offseason, the return will be good.

Considering strome is an RFA I would call that an overpay. I also don’t get the konecny deals. Just get provorov and some draft picks or something

If Chevy has done his job well, the return should be similar to jack eichel package.
