Before having this break out season at age 29, Miller has been a 60 to 65 point a season player. Beauviller a 40 point player.
Now if the Canucks can get a GM to believe that Miller is going to be a 90 point player for the rest of career, yea he gets that return. I just don't think team are going to offer so much for Miller and certainly won't be signing to such a larger extension in $$$ and term. Yep it only takes one to do it though.

Miller has 217 points in his last 205 NHL games. That’s 87 points over 82 games.

So since he has been trade to Vancouver he’s averaged over a point per game, I think it makes sense they would ask a lot for him.

However, beauvillier and mayfield are not it. Beauvillier is a middle 6 scorer who is really streaky. Mayfield is a middle pair d-man who’s best attribute is his contract. OP signing him to a +3 million extension negates that. So basically some middle of the lineup players, what I’m assuming is a protected 1st, and a 2nd? Canucks pass. Especially if Miller’s next contract is 6x8, Canucks would sign that deal for sure.

Miller's role changed when he got to Van and the production followed. Canucks take 6x8m if Miller would sign that I think.

I think miller wants more than that, like a lot more than that, like a million and 2 years more than that

Yup, definitely a concern. No doubt he wants to maximize his earnings and the market might get there. I'll be interested to see Karlsson and Gaudreau contracts though they are bigger goal scorers.

I don't think Mayfield at just above 3M is an overpay

Not an overpay but not a value contract either. Don’t see him as a step up from any of the Canucks current Dmen besides Poolman I guess.

Mayfield is most definitely a step up from Schenn, Myers, and Dermott, and it's almost impossible to get bargain value when you buy a player's unrestricted free agent years

???? How is mayfield better than those three? What specifically is her better at that the others don’t make up somewhere else

He's a better skater and puck mover than Schenn, and he's better defensively than Myers

Sure but schenn makes up for that with physical play, sound positioning, and a conservative play style.

Myers transition game imo is better.

I guess it’s difference of opinion

Mayfield is good in his own zone too
