Bring Trotz to Detroit

Created by: JhonnyCanuck5
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 9, 2022
Published: May 9, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Barry Trotz may be the best defensive coach in the NHL. He could turn the Wings' young D into an absolute force with Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder and more coming up soon. I think Trotz makes Detroit a real contender by 2024.

Edvinsson and Berggren make the team.

Fabbri slots onto the 3rd line when healthy, Smith/Sundqvist scratched.

Soderblom may earn a call up.

Areas of need:
LD- Trade for Martinez/Petersson/Schmidt, sign Cole/Zadorov
2C- Sign Strome/Trocheck/Copp
2G- Sign experienced backup on a short deal: Holbty/Anderson/Jones/ Koskinen

Trotz is not spending his last few years in coaching with a rebuilding team. And for as great of a defensive coach he is, his offensive systems leave much to be desired. Wings need to think outside the box and get a young, smart coach with fresh ideas.

Vrana is too stubborn to learn to play 200 foot hockey and him and Trotz didnt exactly see eye to eye in his short time coaching him. Trotz also imo doesnt do well with youth he prefers Vets... Wings should go for Bruce imo

Yeah until he leaves edvinsson out of the nhl till hes 24 and keeps danny dekeiser to play 22 minutes a night. Hes the wrong coach for a team with a lot of young talent. It makes a lot more sense for a team like philly to go for him. Detroit signing trotz would set them back 3 years.

Things you're wrong about, go:
1. Trotz doesn't make roster decisions, that's Yzerman
2. Are you insinuating the Isles have a lot of young talent? That's funny, because that roster is loaded with overpaid middle 6 forwards.
3. Philly is another non-contending team he probably has no interest in
4. Trotz is a great coach - he got a very mediocre Isles team to the ECF and had them consistently over-achieve.

I think you are right here, but I don't think trotz is right for Detroit.

If you want Larkin playing on the 3rd line and vrana playing under 8 minutes a night and all of his players hating him and not allowing them to be creative trotz is for you.

Hopefully yzerman is sane and doesnt even each out to him so we can have a coach that coaches and not some boring defensive system that gives up 3-5 goals a game with no offense whatsoever

Contenders aren't looking for new coaches. That's why they're contenders. Detroit is an up an coming team on the rise with a lot of very young talented players in the pipeline. This could be very enticing for a guy like Trotz. And Steve Yzerman is a very influential man. If he wants to sell Detroit to Trotz. He will. So far the only teams other than the NY Islanders looking for a head coach are Detroit, Winnipeg, Chicago and Philadelphia. None of these teams are contenders. Detroit has the brightest future out of all of them.

There's always contenders who are eliminated in the first round (or beyond) who fire the head coach and look for an upgrade. Your opinion on which teams have the brightest futures is subjective. Your personal opinions aren't facts. Plus it doesn't matter how influential Yzerman is or isn't. It's Trotz's choice to make. Not Stevie's. He can't force him to coach the Red Wings. LOL

Yeah he doesnt have say over roster decisions but he does have a say over ice time. He'll scratch the ypung guys or barely play them just like he did in washington and NY.
The islanders have young talent, trotz just refused to play them.
Philly is a team that with the same core took the isles to 7 games 2 years ago after winning 2 series beforehand. The roster is still built to win and barrys best quality is getting vets to embrace the underdog mentality. He will also provide a much needed stable voice in an organization thats way off the rails with chuck fletcher.
How about the isles took barry to back to back ECFs despite his terrible lineup decisions.

Better trade away Vrana and Zadina and load up on veterans If we are going with Trotz.

You do realize your opinion is just as worthless as the next guy on this form. That's basically all this platform is. A bunch of worthless opinions talking to each other. Relax a little, have some fun and take her easy there sport.
