Just be bad during the buyouts

Created by: MNCountryClub

Description
I really don’t wanna watch this team try and Moneyball it’s way to a championship on a shoestring budget. Start shedding cap and regroup for the 25-26 season.

Suggestions on how to best short term tank are welcomed.

lol. In NHL, you can be a GM and make your own trades; and if you get the right coach, you can make your players play 5 overall points higher than they really are. Guys like Hartman and Gaudreau are good examples

GM mode? I'm guessing it's a video game thing?

Gotcha, yeah they definitely are. Our roster this year was full of players who over performed expectations.

Hey did you see Russo article in which he showed kelly Talbot's tweet? Knowing Guerin's pettiness, Talbot is gone. We all know about Guerin and him getting mad especially in negotiations

I think that's a smart idea, issue is how will Kap feel about that. If he can accept his team will suck for the next 2 seasons then Wild should do this plan. They'd come out so good.

Yeah I saw that. It was interesting. Feels like this is probably the end for him in MN.

I know that’s the tricky part. You cant really have a 100pt winger in his prime during a rebuild and then expect that he wants to stay.

I’m honestly not sure how you handle it. You almost just open the kimono and say “here’s our plan. We have to suck for a bit, but it’s to get you legitimate talent. I promise once the buyouts are up, we’ll spend to the limit and get some bona fide players for a cup run.”

Idk

If you're going to be bad for the buyouts just trade Kaprizov and Fiala. Zucc gets traded during the season or the next offseason. Dumba traded before the next TDL.

Yeah I mean you’re probably not wrong. If you go rebuild, there’s no guarantee you can just come back when it’s convenient. so there’s probably something to be said for going full scorched earth.

I really don’t have a strong opinion on what to do at this point. I’m still too frustrated with how everything played out.

It's not even a scorched earth approach. It's just getting of 2 star wings. The rest will fall into place after that rather quickly.

It'll be 1-3 more seasons before the Rossi, Wallstedt, and pickem of LD prospects are ready to make an impact at the NHL level. They can grow on a team that has a stable base, but lacking the talent to be in the Playoff hunt.

If the wild are giving Dumba away for a second I think Buffalo says yes please!
