Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Use career best to get the highest value out of Fiala and Hartman. Use young depth to fill to create cap space. Move Dumba retaining salary to max value. Stock the shelf with cheap young talent so you have the potential to offer young star a long term deal before the dead cap ends. Put yourself in a position to be competitive now and cup favorites in 3 years.

Zero chance NJD does that. Don't see them moving that pick unless we attach our own 1st with Fiala. Even then... unlikely.

Think the most you'll get for Dumba is a 2nd.

Gritsyuk and pick 37 would probably something they consider.

But who knows. He's probably about to win KHL rookie of the year.

Not a wild fan but idk if minny would resign fleury. Clearly they don’t see him as someone who can take them far in the playoffs after replacing him but not sure after all idrk the wilds situation

I think the Oilers would look at moving for a player like Dumba, but even at 50% retention I think he is only worth a second for what he is producing, I think for the oilers to deal a top ten protected first OR Carter Savoie (not both) you would have to retain 50% and take a bad contract back, something like Kassian. Up to Minnesota but that's the only way the oil would touch it, would be an interesting discussion though to say the least.

Some interesting stuff here for sure. I fear that the devils trade is a tad (a lot ) too optimistic. I actually think NJ was a solid trade partner before they lucked out in The lottery and they’ll think that they should get way more value for #2 than # 6 (or wherever they were expected to pick). And understandably so. 2-6 in this draft to my novice eyebseem to be a bit of beauty in the eye of the beholder and you could possibly be just as happy at 6 as at 2.
The Hartman thing is interesting…he probably looks better to the rest of the league right now than he does to those inside the building. And he has a great contract. So a team like Vegas actually might make some real sense. That said there’s a team that wears red and green who also need good contracts, and Hartman took less money to be with this team - shipping him off may be a little dirty.
You and I must have very different opinions of D-lo as I think he had exactly one good game (his first after the trade when he was ALL OVER the ice, just flying and even scored). I’d rather see any number of our younger prospects get a crack.
I think Kulikov is Dumba, for roughly 1/3 of the cost and less frequently injured. So that could work.
I can’t see Fleury and Talbot co existing.
We’re all thinking about next year already…what a freaking dud.

The Oilers don't need Dumba, and therefore aren't going to overpay for him.

That’s an interesting trade for Vegas. I don’t hate it. Different idea that makes a ton of sense cap wise

Minnesota says no to every single deal here. Minnesota if Guerin decides to trade him isn't retaining. Hartman isn't available, nor is he getting traded. No gm is accepting the draft limit
