Elliotte Friedman mentions on 32TP to keep an eye on #GoHabsGo and Colin White. Hughes represented White and negociated his current contract with the #GoSensGo. Conversations between the 2 teams happened and could be revisited.

Wright doesn't get you an unprotected shot at Bedard from a bottom feeder team like Arizona, it especially doesn't get you that AND a 3rd overall pick

EDIT: also that Ottawa deal is hilariously ass. Not even close. Any white Deal needs to beat the value of just buying him out which this definitely doesn't even come close to doing.

Lafrenière, Alexis is worth a 2nd round pick at most, just because he was 1st OA does not mean he is worth a 1st round pick yet alone 1st or 3rd OA

Also, very wrong on the Ottawa deal. Hoffman had his best years there. Byron has 1 year left and is from Ottawa, with leadership abilities.
But more importantly, it is cheaper to buy out Hoffman than white. Less money, less years.
So if they just could just buy out Hoffman.. for less

arizona wants it because they get assets for taking weber contract. Why do habs fans keep insisting that teams are gonna take their terrible contracts and then pay them for the pleasure?

Why do Leafs fans don’t understand Weber cost low in real money while Arizona is a poor franchise ? What’s horrible in the Weber contract ? He won’t play in the NHL again and you are not paying him a lot. If the Habs ends up sending a 4th RD pick or less (like an AHLer), that’s fine. I don’t think it’s gonna be primes assets going to ARI

tell you what, you find me one trade where a team paid assets to get a bad contract. Just one, and i dont mean when a GM just made a stupid trade, I mean when a GM paid to take a terrible contract just because.

Arizona actually saves money because insurance pays Webber/ and his actual paid amount is very low while still counting for a larger amount against the cap. This is cap friendly check it out for yourself.

Not saying they will take him for free, but if a reason ever existed....

Ottawa … they took Derek Stepan 6.5M because he was making 2M in real money, AND THEY PAID A 2nd round pick !!!!

Derek stepan was still a useful player and could contribute despite being over paid, also it was a gm being dumb. Ottawa got a vet to fill a spot that they hoped could bounce back in a bigger role and be worth more at the deadline

So again, find me a trade where a gm paid just to get a contract, not a player

We’ll see this summer how much the Habs paid to get rid of Weber. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s almost nothing (4th RD pick or lesser value)

That would be very surprising considering it has never happened before. It cost detroit 4 spots in the draft and allowed the coyotes to get chychrun for one year of Datsyuk's dead money

Rangers aren't trading Lafreniere.

As a Rangers fan, I can see the Rangers trading Lafreniere, but it'd only be for the 1st overall pick. They lack org depth at center, specifically defensive center, and are tight on cap space. You can add a prospect or 2 on the rangers side (like Lundkvist + Cuylle) to even it out, but Laf aint happening unless Wright is involved. I hope this trade happens in real life! A future star Québécois to leading Montreal would be really cool!

Fun fact: Laf scored 25 career 5v5 goals faster than Nate MacKinnon, Stamkos or Tavares scored 20 5v5 goals.
