if Nuke chooses to test the market, he'll have no shortage of suitors!

I see you tried to make the 1st Edmonton's. In that case, we have no deal. Give us the #7 OA pick

Lol no to yourself. Why would we give you a game-breaking, 33 goal, 85 point talent for a pick in the 20s and a risky prospect? What are the odds either that pick or Järventie turn into anything like Fiala? Low, extremely low.

Be interested to see what that contract look like. His underlying metrics have been pretty elite for the last few years, especially defensively, but this is the first season that his play has reflected that in his offensive results. As a general rule its usually not wise to be the guy paying the UFA for his first big offensive season, but Nuke is probably the best case in favour of doing it anyway. I think you probably bet on him being the real deal. No clue if he leaves, or what that deal looks like if he does, so I just picked a number.

Sakic will be asking for a discount for sure. At this point $4.5M seems like a team friendly number.

Nuke lacks stickhandling and agility, but has tremendous size, reach, top speed, and shot power. He's found a style of game that perfectly fits his skillset (relentless puck hound) and I think this next contract will age well. If the Avs lose him it will be a huge impact.

I think the Oilers would take that, the only thing is they would have to send a contract back the other way for cap reasons.

Lol then move along! No #7 pick no deal. Or we’ll take the EDM pick and Sanderson and then some. But either way it’s gonna get wild leading up to the draft. Gonna be interesting to see who gets Fiala. Would love to keep him but it’s just not happening. Damn buyouts

Personally, if Fiala costs us the 2022 7th OA pick I'd be soooo happy to walk away from the deal. Ottawa is pretty much guaranteed to land one of: Kemell, Gauthier, or Jiricek, and I'd happily take any one of them on an ELC over Fiala who'll cost us $7.5M+ for 7 seasons and make it difficult for us to keep all the elite talent we've added: Stützle, Sanderson, Zub, Pinto, Greig...
It's not like adding Fiala makes us a playoff team immediately - the division is still stacked. Maybe I'm more patient than most SENS fans, but why put in all the work we have just to rush it now.
BTW - I think Wild fans will be disappointed in what they get back when Fiala finally goes.

I have the exact same mindset. It’s not like he tips the scales in our favor to such an extent that we mortgage the wonderful collection of quality young guys to get him. I have no problem being patient just a little longer, the going is about to get really good
