Red Wings would have no trouble offering Michigan Boy Copp 5.5 mil AAV.

A rebuilding team taking on cap for two thirds is the thing they would do

Not when it’s a 2 year term with a backloaded salary. This would be reasonable if Mrazek had one year left

Just like trading Ritchie was going to cost a 1st right? Instead it was Ritchie and a 2nd 2 years from now for Lyubushkin and another player who was lost on waivers. Lyubushkin wasn't far off from being worth a 2nd alone.

Sabres arent looking to waste their goalies spots on a hope and a prayer. 2 x 3.9 is pretty expensive, 2 3rds wont cut it

Sabres have no use for him, Richie at least plays for Arizona

Most fans on here say any and all leaf players are not good enough to make their roster and yet the leafs are better than pretty much all those teams. It's weird how they works. Holl, Engvall, Kerfoot, Mrazek, Muzzin, Mikheyev, Brodie and now Nylander are all worthless on this site because every team has better players on their team but somehow are way worse teams. It's weird.

The mrazek contract is clearly worse than the Richie one. No one said Richie would cost a 1st

GM's in the NHL are different than the fickle keyboard warriors on this site. Firstly they don't want to see the Leafs lose more than they want their own team to win and 2ndly they don't forget everything that happened before the last season. Mrazek has been and has proven to be a capable NHL goalie. A nagging groin injury cost him this season but he's been decent for 300+ starts in the NHL. Is he going to get a return? No, not likely but will someone take a flyer on him? The goalie market is paper thin this summer. Several teams will be looking for goaltending help and have very few options. Some will undoubtedly miss out and then getting an NHL goalie with 2 years for future considerations or a late pick is very much a possiblity.

Leafs aren't exactly kind of winning team, that everybody sign with discount.

well those players can't sign with Tampa or Colorado... leafs are the best bet behind those two.
