Too much for Fiala IMO. Although Wahlstrom had a rough year last year, he has a ton of potential and is still young. Plus the 13th overall pick is pretty valuable considering how barren our prospect pool is

I know Wahlstrom hasn't worked out yet for New York, but I think it'd be a big mistake to give up this quickly. A coaching change could do him so much good.

Ottawa trade is a hard no for the isles. Fiala trade isn’t realistic with salary constraints. This team isn’t competitive rn anyway so I’d hold onto Wally for now.

I think that a trade for Fiala would either be built around Wahlstrom OR the first round pick, but probably not both. Wahlstrom has a lot of time left to grow and develop and could become a serious stud for the Isles.

I don’t know about that Fiala deal. He was only good for 3 months, so it seems like a huge overpay

Giving up Wahlstrom would be a huge mistake. It’s like isles fans haven’t learned from trading Devon Toews

I just remember weeks before Toews was traded there were a ton of ACGM proposing trades like “Toews + Boychuk to Ottawa for a 4th rd pick” and Toews for a 2nd and bottom 6 winger to open up space so Lou can sign Hoffman to play with Barzal lol

Fiala is a hell of a player. He put up 85 point season with “only 3 good months” imagine what he’ll do when he puts a full season together?! 🤯. He’s a 90+ Point player if he’s playing with good players. He put up 85 points playing with a 4th line C and a rookie. Put him with Andres Lee and Brock Nelson or Barzel and man, those are deadly lines. Fiala constantly set up his linemates who couldn't finish. He’s got more assist potential. I’ll also say he’s very exciting to watch play, does moves only a handful of players can pull off.

This was more referring to Fiala the player not the trade package. As a Wild fan I’m sad to see him go.

Barzal and fiala would be dynamite. They’d each be 90 pt players. That’s probably about right on his trade value but too high on contract. He’d be looking at 7.5-8m I think.

Except in this trade we're getting a 30 goal scorer and not a couple of picks

Fiala is great , but you’re giving up a 21 YO who will likely be better than Fiala within 2 years and the 13 overall pick where they can get someone like Brad Lambert or Frank Nazar, both with elite upside. The most isles should give up for Fiala is a 1st , 2nd and Simon Holmstrom

This trade reminds me of when isles fans wanted to trade Barzal and Pulock for Duchene for a quick fix.

I will add it’s reported that MN offered Fiala 6 Mil per /3. And he was looking for 6 years and would've taken a home discount to stay. That was last off-season. I’d imagine he’ll be looking for 6+ years still and 7-8 mil range.
