1.
NJD
  1. 2023 1st round pick (CGY)
CGY
  1. Stillman, Chase
  2. Zacha, Pavel [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Assuming they don’t keep their big 3 on the wing, Calgary will need a more affordable option. Throwing in Stillman as sweetener to get the 1st rounder, which should be a late pick 20s-30s
2.
NJD
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Wood, Miles [RFA Rights]
3.
NJD
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Tatar, Tomas
Additional Details:
A cheaper option on the wing if Forsberg doesn’t resign with Nashville
4.
NJD
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
5.
VAN
  1. Foote, Nolan
  2. Smith, Ty
  3. Walsh, Reilly
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I think Zacha may need to be a piece here instead of this assortment, now that I’m looking at it… but if Vancouver is looking for young talent I guess this might work?
6.
NJD
  1. Fiala, Kevin [RFA Rights]
MIN
  1. Gritsyuk, Arseni [Reserve List]
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (NJD)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
‘23 2nd becomes a Lotto protected first if Fiala plays 60 games

This is assuming Minnesota would take a purely futures deal, which I think they should given the cap situation.

If Vancouver is looking for young talent then you should probably include some actual talent in the trade idk

Sounds to me like you have a productive thought behind that comment! I promise I won’t be offended if you back up none of those players being talented!

If you didn't notice he's got Nolan Foote and Ty Smith in the trade.

Walsh and Foote are B prospects. No guaruntee of either ever being more than middle of the line up players. Smith took a massive step back. Terrible underlying numbers and poor defensive play.

Garland led the Canucks in 5v5 points this year (would have been 2nd on the devils behind only Bratt).

Trading away a legit top 6 player for 3 low ceiling players is not good

If you notice they have both plateaued in their development, if not taken steps backwards entirely

Mhm. I'm curious as to what you think Garland is worth.

Ty Smith would about fit that build. Of course he didn't have a great year, so that's why you're getting the other pieces.

What makes you think a winger would return a similar age defenseman on a similar type contract ? Time and time again it's been proven wingers are no where near as valuable as defenseman, at least RHD, which I'm pretty sure is the type of defenseman most Canucks fans want. Top 4 RHD >>>> Top 6 winger, especially if contract and age are similar.

Ty smith is not a top 4 defenseman. Maybe one day, but it’s not a guaruntee. In fact, I’d say it’s not even likely at this point

Then I would simply keep garland since he is one of Vancouvers best players at even strength and is on a good contract and doesn’t need to be moved

And why is that? Because he had a bad year? He is still only 22.

Yes, because he had a bad year. I understand he could still become a top 4 defender, but I wouldn’t bet garland on it.

Which is why a righty with top 4 potential is in the trade, and so is Nolan Foote who can be a top 6 winger and is ready for an NHL gig

Not sure what is more tone deaf, Devil fans trading a lot of assets for a player who hasn’t scored more than 22 goals or 52 points in a year or Canuck fans expecting a kings ransom for a player who hasn’t scored more than 22 goals or 52 points in a year….

Why would Calgary not want to keep their big 3 FA wingers? And if they for some reason didn't they certainly arent trading the 2023 pick for middle 6 guys

Or maybe it’s the guy who does all his scouting on Hockey DB and has never considered actually watching a player or looking at more qualitative data to determine player worth

Oilers cant afford Wood especially when giving up picks that they have so few. Trading for Wood means not signing Yamo, Kulak and probably Kane.

Trade only works if you take Kassian!

Edit 1 Just saw you signed Kulak. Sly little move trade Wood then sign Kulak. You just proved me theory

I agree with both of you. Garland needs top PP time to show his true potential. But as it stands, this is a likely return. Trade Boeser or JT, give Garland that top PP slot and his return would be higher!

Bahahaha, I’ll quote even strength relative Corsi next time. Just the same as your logic on Smith not being or currently projecting as a top 4D, Garland hasn’t yet proved he is a first line player on a playoff caliber team to warrant the return you are expecting.

Next to no chance the devils deplete their prospect depth by sending Smith, Walsh, Foote and a pick for Garland anyway and we’ll see how the players progress or regress in the next year or two.
