Are you thinking of Petry circa 2018?

He was literally in Norris contention last year and has put up 4 consecutive 40pts seasons before this year. Put up 20pts in his final 29GP. The hate petry gets for one Off year is hilarious.

I wouldn't even go so far to say he had a bad year. He had family issues that people overlook but managed to come back in the last 30 games with 20 points. So he was back on track for a 40+ point season the back half of the season. He would be a great fit in PIT if Letang leaves, DAL if they want to run it for another couple years (and also if they lose Klingberg).... He would surprisingly fit in PHI if Ellis gets traded.

Not even an off year - for half a season playing in a ridiculous system designed by a coach in over his head on a historically poor team. If one bad half-season is enough to call him washed up, a second half-season should be enough to say he's good, right?

Lots of ppl on capfriendly are gonna be eating crow once they see the return.

Our GM has already come out and indicated, he's not keen to take on unnecessary cap. Paying for Pettersson I feel falls into this category.

I don't think Zadorov is suited to be a top pairing.
