Description

1. Detroit selects Marco Kasper at 8oa.
2. Necas deal might be a bit of a low ball but I'm honestly not sure his value right now. Also considered doing something centered around Bertuzzi for Necas + Bear.
3. Mercer deal should be pretty close to even, as it gives NJ a scoring winger for a young player with only 1 year NHL experience (so his projection is still somewhat unknown).

This gives 3 options for Detroit to try at 2C (over the next couple years), not including Veleno. Signing Forsberg brings a veteran, Swedish presence and allows some flexibility in case we opt to deal Bertuzzi.

I'm actually a big fan of Suter but don't think this trade does anything for the Canes. Necas value is tough to peg but think it's still quite a bit higher than this. If the Canes end up moving him (which I think is less likely than ppl on here think b/c they rarely sell low on guys) I think it's part of a bigger package to get an upgrade. Bear+Necas for Bertuzzi as a base (not saying that's the whole deal, pieces need to be added to even it out) would probably be more of a realistic option but I still think they're looking for more of a true goal scoring winger for the top 6 versus a gritty scorer like Bertuzzi. I think they could use both honestly, especially if they let Troch & Nino walk.
