Calgary wouldn't be moving Monahan only because he's bad, they need to move him to dump cap. Taking on Mrazek and Holl in return eliminates any point for the trade from their view.

They trade a 4th line centre for good 3rhd and backup goalie. 2nd sweetens it. Instead of paying one player 6.3 total they pay two guys 5.8. Makes more sense cap wise.

On a 27yr old from Vancouver? Just scored 50 points playing in just about every forward position this year. Swiss Army knife. Cap casualty in TOR. Would love to keep him.

Cost is to much would take him for a 3rd otherwise rather use the assets and cap for some one who wouldn't be just on our 3rd line

Except they can't be paying their 3RHD and backup goalie that money. They need it for a half dozen other guys further up the lineup, including 2/3rds of their top line. Better distribution of their cap doesn't matter when there's no cap to spend to start with. The trade makes no sense at all for Flames.

We have a backup goalie and he only makes $750k. And if something happens to him we have the best goalie in the ahl to step in at $800k.

Seems like the type of player the Leafs need. Why are you trading him? Btw, the Canucks are trying to get draft picks not buying 1 year rentals and I don’t think anyone gives you that price.

1C last year, sometimes 2C. Mostly 2/3C this year, 2-3 games at 4C before he got x-rays and went on LTIR. He was also injured the entirety of the last 2 seasons. He won't be for this next one

Nice try though

He was 4c all year this year. Got spot duties in the top 9. 20 points in 60 games is 4L stuff. Not saying he is a permanent 4th line centre, just saying he is that in Calgary. Behind lindholm and backlund for sure. At this point he needs a change of scenery or move to wing. Might resurrect his career. That and good health.
