Don't think Buffalo does that, just taking spots away with this trade

How is it so easily declined. 13 OA pick and a defensive dman the Nucks desperately need

Plus both guys have 2 years left. I don't think Buffalo is gonna be the place to ship off the stuff you don't want, actually I'm not sure who actually will. At least adding a second makes it possible.

Mayfield is 29 and on an expiring contract and 13OA isn't worth trading for with Jirichek and Nemec most likely being gone before then. They aren't gonna trade both Garland and Hoglander unless it meets their exact needs. Also, they aren't lacking a defensive dman they're lacking dmen that can exit the zone efficiently

Can't see Lou trading a guy he just extended less than 3 months ago in Clutterbuck.

They won’t trade Clutterbuck after extending him.

Also, 5x6 for nishchukin?

Kid refused to get vaccinated which could affect his ability to play in Canada if those restrictions remain in place. Do not want.

Missed opportunity to trade Martin and Clutterbuck to Rangers because NYR prefers grit (see Buchnevich trade).

They wouldn’t do it but I would. And I’d even give nichuskin another year if I had to

In this draft, the 13OA will likely not be anything that will help the Canucks immensely unless a top 8 pick drops to 13. Mayfield is at best a #4 d man and not really an upgrade on RHD. This trade offer just doesn’t have enough for the Canucks to trade two top 6 wingers

Last time I heard this reasoning, they let Martin walk the following year and regretted it. There is still a need for players like Martin and Clutterbuck in the NHL, as well as third pair defensemen like Mayfield who can lay a hit and fight. The Rangers learned this lesson after Wilson manhandled them, and it's a big reason they went as far as they did this season. I don't want to go back to the days where Visnovsky and de Haan are getting run and the Islanders find themselves icing their #8 D because the other team is targeting them and taking them out.
