I think a couple of teams could take a flyer on Blais bouncing back if NYR aren't prepared.

Canes accept, but I have my doubts on the Yotes accepting that. Crouse very likely stays with the Yotes, barring a massive overpay. And I don’t think Johnsson and Zacha is big enough of an overpay.

two guys with similar production for one might be big enough if they want one of the guys and see the other as a potential trade chip. Zacha and Crouse are born in the same year, so just maybe. I do think you are right though that they are looking for ridiculous overpay on guys

Buch for a 2nd and a 3rd makes it slightly more tolerable

Why exactly would OSing Blais be good? Not even leaving a spot for Holtz?

I would imagine the devils want Holtz to play with Bratt and Hischier but it’s something he needs to earn. If he does I can see them moving Tatar to the third line and blais to the 4th. Blais would move to the third line the following year

It can be a gamble worth taking. Fitzgerald talks about grit and size and that’s what he has. I meant to have the devils resign wood. So the 4th line could wood blais and/ or bastian who all pray with grit and aren’t aging out like Reaves and deslauriers. A third might be a bit of an overpay but not by much and if he’s healthy there can be a chance he has a solid year

Considering the Yotes situation, why shouldn’t they want an overpay for key players they want to build around? I do think Crouse holds quite a bit more value than Zacha though, since Crouse is putting up either close to Zacha’s numbers or better on a much worse team.

I agree with you on their approach, their last ask on Chychrun had polarizing views from other execs apparently.

I disagree with Crouse actually having more trade value for the reason you mentioned since NJ isn't a super strong team but there are still some playoffs expectations there. While Crouse might have the benefit of playing on a team that is almost certainly playing meaningless games, so a perhaps less pressure. He is going to have the pressure of having to live up to the hype still and I think Arz wants to trade him in for a sure thing not more of the same. Zacha+Anderson might be overpay but that roster spot+cap can potentially return more assets than Anderson. So, I agree with you in that sense that it isn't enough for Arz to probably do the trade unless they are high on either of the NJ players or both
