The New Jersey pick is 2nd overall. I'm not sure why people either forget this, or think William Nylander is worth this, because both are kind of dumb.

Hawks reject simply because of where they are in their rebuild. They have a jammed D prospect pipeline and Holl would be taking a spot from a prospect to get some ice time with the Hawks. Throw in the fact that it is costing a draft pick when they are trying to rebuild their farm and they sadly have to say no.

Hawks decline, they're rebuilding and it doesn't make sense for them.

Also Kerfoot was drafted and developed by the devils and he sat out a year so he wouldn't ever have to play for them. No chance devils trade for him.

Wouldn't say no chance but that is a good point.

Nylander is absolutely worth the 2nd overall. The question is whether or not he fits the Devils timeline

Hawks are not taking Holl we aren’t letting bad vets take spots from our young players in a rebuild

Nah, he isn't. If he had more than 2 years left maybe, but with the risk hat he would leave in 2 years, he's not worth 2OA.

Hard disagree. Either way, the Leafs don't make this trade anyways.

I take that trade if I’m the leafs. Slaf or Cooley, or Nemec is you really want, would be a nice cheap addition next season and they would have higher ceilings than Nylander. But more importantly, it would let you go out and add some big name UFAs.

But it’s useless to talk about whether the leafs would do it or not because NJ wouldn’t.

Nylander is what you hope the 2nd overall pick turns into. Point per game elite 1st line winger.

Any option for 2OA is going to be more well rounded though. And like I said, the more valuable part would be the cap space.
