Fiala to OTT - Bellows and Mitts Redemption Tour

Created by: gopherit
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2022
Published: Jun. 14, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Potential Line Combos:

*Conservative*
Kaprizov-Hartman-Zucc
Boldy-Rossi-Gaudreau
GREEF
Duhaime-Mitts-Jost

If this is the case, then there's no point in trading for Mitts if we don't intend to give him legitimate minutes on the top 2 lines.

*Redemption*
See current line combination. Essentially, give Mitts and Bellows a shot at redemption. We can always swap out one or both with Hartman and/or Gaudreau if it doesn't work out. Regardless, I don't see Hartman ever becoming a true 1C so might as well give someone who was, at one point in time, projected to be one (in Mitts). As for Bellows, idk. He reminds me of Niederreiter. I think he'd excel in a line with Boldy and Rossi as neither are super fast, Rossi will drive the offense; thereby, allowing Bellows to find the open space and put the puck in the back of the net from dishes from Rossi. He also can be an asset on the PP.

The biggest concern I have with this team (besides gambling on Mitts & Bellows) is that our defense is very thin. We may need to explore trade options involving Jost, Beckman, Khovanov, and/or some other F prospect (conservative) or Talbot, Spurgeon (lol), and/or Gaudreau (aggressive). OR not re-sign Deslauriers and sign a cheap 7th D from free agency.

Trades

MIN
  1. Järventie, Roby
  2. 2022 1st round pick (OTT)
3.
MIN
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
Additional Details:
Mitts may benefit from a change of scenery. Minnesota gets a center that could become a top 2 center if he is able to stay healthy. Plus, he's a former Gopher so I'm very biased in wanting him.
BUF
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Khovanov, Alexander
Additional Details:
BUF gets an offensive RHD that can play right away and has potential to flourish even more. I know BUF already has Power and Dahlin but fans have expressed interest in Addison in other trade packages. Really, this is just a personal trade for Mitts. I can add to this trade or swap Addison out for another player. Would y'all be interested in Jost instead? A pick? LMK.

Khovanov has immense skill but hasn’t developed in the Wild system. He needs a fresh start. This feels like good value going both ways.

I prefer to give mitts the year, but it's not an unreasonable trade

Makes sense given he was a top 10 pick and all. This is more a personal trade than anything, being a former Golden Gopher myself. How'd he look this past year?

Kulikov, respectfully, is not getting back really any value in a trade. And most definitely not Bellows. Maybe a 6th

Possibly. Difficult to judge. Really depends on how badly Dorion wants Fiala. It's been rumored on multiple occasions that he's willing to part with his 7 OVA to get a player like Fiala. fwiw, this trade package has been accepted by Sens fans in almost every thread I've seen it in. That being said, I totally relate with any fanbase that sees a trade proposal whereby they give up a top 10 pick for a player (presumably) locked into an expensive, long term contract. However, I think Ottawa fans will come to love Fiala as much as Wild fans do. He's a fun ppg player to watch. Him and Stützle would be must see TV. wink

Fair enough. I've seen Isles fans accept this trade package before. Or have interest in Kulikov. What would it take in your mind for MIN to acquire Bellows?

He got hurt 7 minutes into the season after being our best player in camp and missed 41 games and it lingered.

Finished strong though

It would be in a package for Fiala IMO. Obviously the Islanders add way more. But one for one I think it probably takes a pick around 50-60 OVR.

If you wanted to do Bellows for Kulikov, the Wild could very well add a future 2nd or 3rd, islanders add a 6th or 7th and it all evens out. Bellows has some skill but Trotz destroyed his development so itll be interesting to see if the Islanders try to scrap any value he has left in a trade or hope that he can become what he was supposed to be

First, so you know, Mittelstadt’s development has been stalled bc of frequent injuries. So i don’t think it’s so much that he needs to “rediscover his game” as much as he just needs to stay healthy.

As far as the trade goes, Buffalo would most likely decline this
It’s possible we’d be willing to move Mitts, just not for Addison

We have Dahlin & Power to lead the offensive attack from the backend, so i just couldn’t see us wanting another “offensive” defenseman.

I’m not sure who we’d want in return for Mitts, but it would likely have to be something pretty decent since i don’t think we’re at all ready to give up on him (even though some fans are)

Personally, I’d be ok putting him in a package for Fiala
But idk if the Sabres would be looking to make that kind of deal right now

Im not an Ottawa fan or an Wild fan. Im providing an outside perspective. I think Fiala gets a slightly better return than Reinhart

Lol I would've offered one of the later 1sts and taking talbot's contract to get Addison on the Sabres. Dude is legit, saying no cause we don't need another offensive d-man is laughable. What a terrible thing it would be to have Dahlin, Power and Addison on the back end. Truly tragic lol. As if the other 3 d-man couldn't be defensive.

I could definitely see Buffalo pursuing addison, Id bre really surprised if Minnesota gave him up without a massive overpay.

FLA 1st for Talbot's and Addison would be a great deal for Buffalo
I think Casey will have a big year if he is given good wingers.

I'd be okay with that. I'll edit the trade and add Khovanov. smile
