Gibson has not been good for three years...have to look beyond his name of 5 years ago.

I'm really not a fan of Gibson, I hope Fitz stays clear, Ducks would ask a lot for him.

Not much reason to do this for the Leafs. Moving Mrazek is a cap move and they need an answer in goal, not just another backup. Bernier isn't that answer and he eliminates most of the cap move.

Seems like the devils have a ton of wingers. Is it expected that Tatar and Johnson will be moved? I see Bratt, Sarangovich, Holtz, Tatar, Johnson, Zacha, Wood, Zetterlund, Thompson, Boqvist, Foote, Kuokkonen, Bastian. Thats 13 guys for 8 spots and doesn't include any possible additions (Debrincat/Fiala/Forsberg/Gudreau/Slafkovski)

I wonder if ducks ask for Daws, and buy a bargain or two to fill the nets for next year or two.

Start with:

Sharangovich - Hughes - Mercer
Zacha - Hischier - Bratt
Johnsson - Boqvist - Tatar
Wood - McLeod - Bastian

Bench: Kuokkanen
AHL: Holtz, Zetterlund, Thompson, Foote

1. Zacha gets moved.
2. Holtz replaces Zacha.
3. One of Johnsson, Kuokkanen gets moved.
4. Zetterlund replaces Mango/Kuok.

Sharangovich - Hughes - Mercer
Holtz - Hischier - Bratt
Tatar - Boqvist - Zetterlund
Wood - McLeod - Bastian

Bench: Kuokkanen
AHL: Thompson, Foote (both are waiver exempt)

From there…if we add a guy like Fiala, we probably move Zetterlund to bench or trade Boqvist and play Mercer at 3C. Or if we sign Forsberg, we could move Sharangovich to 3C as well. And if we draft Slafkovsky, and he comes to camp and makes team, Zetterlund goes down, Tatar goes to 3RW and Slavkovsky to 3LW.

So two guys are probably moved out (between Zacha, Johnsson, Kuokkanen, and maybe Boqvist or Zetterlund if they are part of trade).

My guess at what happens:
1. Zacha traded for picks
2. Johnsson traded to cap floor team ($3.4m AAV, $750k salary) for peanuts.
3. Kuokkanen clears waivers.
4. Devils add one “heavier skill player”
5. Devils draft pick does not start season on roster.
6. Holtz and Zetterlund make NHL team
7. Foote and Thompson start in AHL.

Johnsson has a 1.75 mil signing bonus additionally. And a 10 team no trade that kicks in this summer...

Still less than his AAV but has to be accounted for.
