I don't care what anyone this site says, Petry likely gets a better return than this.

A 1st and Poulin gets it done, a 2nd likely doesn't.

If that's the case, then Petry isn't going to be a Penguin. Poulin is already one of our best prospects and the only 1st in our system we drafted. Hextall has stated he wants to try to compete without risking significant futures, which probably means the 1st is off the table. Fenway Sports Group has said they want Malkin and Letang to retire here, and supposedly Letang's next contract is Hextall's current focus.

With the powers of boredom and anxiety combined, you too can put a significant amount of thought and effort into something you can't affect in the slightest!

Pitt would be better off to resign Letang and keep future assets for sure. They can structure him and Malkin to end the same year as Crosby and they retire together after getting a couple more shots at the cup.

I mean you can keep overrating your players as much as you want, nobody is stopping you.

But I’m telling you nobody wants to pay a 34 and a half year old defensemen who saw major regression last year 6.25 million for the next 3 years.

And I can promise you we won’t give up our top forward prospect and a second rounder for him

You can promise all you want but I heard that same things about every Habs player that goes on the trade block. Toffoli was a one season wonder, no one's giving up assets for him, Chariot sucks no GM is giving a first for him (he was never worth a first), Lehkonen is a bottom six player no teams giving up good assets for him.

In the end Hughes has always gotten good value back and thinking Petry will be any different would be the underdog on that bet.

Also didn't see major regression, had a bad start to the year as he adjusted to life away from his family because of COVID. The second half he was back to his normal self and will likely be traded at that value.

Chiarot was aquired by a team going all in that wanted to outbid numerous other suitors. Lehkonen was pretty much the only good Canadien analytically this season. But maybe Petry will play better next year. Doesn't mean that makes him worth the asking price. Chiarot wasn't. Lehkonen was. But whether or not he has a usual season or a season like last year is a risk the Penguins cannot take. Kris Letang just put up a career high in points last season. I'll still take him at ~4x~8 over Petry at 3x6.25 without giving up significant assets.

As I think Pit should do. Doesn't change what the price for Petry will be.

Detroit accepts, player useful.

And since you're not keeping Kapanen can we have him too?

remember the trade deadline, what people here value vs what actual paid gm's value, i think you are more accurate with your value. 1 bad partial year makes petry worthless now on CF
