I think a 3rd or 4th round pick should be included in the Washington trade.

Don’t think Bobs contract is moveable. Retention would have to be included (which you’ve done) but I can’t see a contending team retaining 2-5m over such a long period of time.

And even at 7-8m a year I’m not sure what teams would want Bob. Maybe at 5m there are some takers

I like the Preds trade. Makes sense to give Tolvanen a fresh start and upgrade the 2nd line at the same time.

Zito is a bold GM and if he thinks he can use the cap space to make the panthers a better team, I think he’d have no problem retaining. I think Washington is one of the teams that would take a chance on Bob at 6.8 mill, especially when they’re getting a forward like Bennett as well. He’s exactly the type of forward they want

Take out TVR from this deal, and its something I think the caps would have to seriously consider. Obviously would hinge on backstrom being done and what other options were available for them, but I could see that framework making sense

Accepting Bobs contract, even at 3 mil less, is salary cap suicide for the Caps. So i say no

I don't think it would be my first choice, but taking a chance on what could be a starting goalie as well as a really good 3c for 10m isn't completely insane. I would still want to try to squeeze florida for a better player -- lundell/verhaeghe/reinhart -- but not as crazy as you might think. The last two years of the bob contract will almost certainly be horrible though

I kinda like the caps trade but am weary of Bob’s deal like everyone else. I want to toy with this myself as well.
