Going big with Blackhawks trade

Created by: Ottawasean

Description
Lot of whatifs I'm this post - based on some conversations from TSN 1200 discussing Brown status. They speculated about Debrincat being on the block and Kane potentially wanting out (they didn't suggest they could both come here).

Issues are obvious with several NMCs, contracts for Kane and Jones taking them past their primes in high payouts.

I just wondered if this could work and what it might look like. I was surprised that there is still a lot of room in 2 seasons ($34M) to signed RFAs, key players.

I doubt Ottawa would be willing to spend this much next season and take on two risky contracts in Kane and Seth Jones - but was fun considering it.

Yes, likely an underpay for these three Hawks. Relax - we aren't actual GMs.

Chicago does not see the Seth contract as a dump so you'd have to pay up for him as well

Chicago 100% passes, All 3 would cost far more than what you're offering here.

Besides both Kane and Jones don't waive for Ottawa. All Canadian teams are on Seth Jones no trade list.

Yeah, we aren't real GM's. But you could at least try a little bit. That is a horrific trade for CHI. lol

Bro why would the Hawks ever do this, Jones is a top 20-30 d man imo and can get better, no reason to trade him for Matt Murray, not close to enough for Kane either who is a guranteed ppg player, and hawks might want a prospect added like Pinto for the cat.

Hawks counter with toews and strome for stutzle, pinto, and Tkachuk. Pure insanity.

fax as a hawks fan I'd probably die if we did anything close to this.

It makes a little more sense when you break it down the way you did. But even so, the Cat deal might be close but the Jones and Kane deals would be way off. Someone else would easily beat those.

The cat deal isn't close. Hawks would want 2 firsts and 2 A prospects just to start

No team is gonna give up that. What you’re basically saying is you want Sanderson + Greig + 7th overall and another 1st. That is also pure insanity

it really isn't though, cat is only 24, a multiple time ppg player and 40 goal scorer if you agree on a contract, he can still be a part of your young core, not like he's 30 bro.

I know but u don’t give 4 solid assets for him. I wouldn’t do Sanderson straight up tbh. Sanderson has #1D potential. Why would I do that now when I can wait a year and he can be just as valuable as Debrincat and don’t need to give up 3 extra 1sts on top. To me its ridiculous .

Even Formenton + Pinto + 7th overall I’d hesitate . That’s 3 cheap guys you plug in your lineup in the next few years that could be high impact

Well I never said Sanderson, I do think it would be dumb to trade Sanderson, but we not gonna be giving up a preanal 40 goal scorer and ppg player for mid stuff bro, the Hawks would rather keep cat, its not like they HAVE to trade him. 7th a 2nd and Brown is a horrendous return for Debrincat in every aspect bro.
