    Kerfoot definitely doesn't get you a Seattle 2nd. Maybe a Seattle 4th, but not a 2nd.

Well it is big trade trying to get rid of 3.8m X 2 Mrzarek which I don't see as good trade for Chicago. Even Kerfoot to a non playoff team seems unlikely . Sure would like to see a 7th NHL Dman.
Really the Leafs have to trade a big cap, in order to fill their roster.

I think the Leafs will lose any trade that involves Nylander. So they should keep him for at least 1 more year. And Muzzin has a NMC so that limits the team's options.

The Leafs are in a bind.

    MTL probably accepts.

Value for Kerfoot is slightly high, also don't see why SEA, who is a retooler, would use picks for rentals.

CHI dump is fine to me.

Can't understand why DAL would pay for another Hakanpää. They need a 2nd pair RHD able to play PP, that does not scream Holl to me.

Seattle can play Kerfoot in the top six, inlfate his value, and then trade him at the deadline at half retained for a 1st to a contender. Or they can resign him.

And I don't think Seattle wants to be bad again. They need to compete for the playoffs to keep the fans and the city interested. They won't trade their picks for prospects if they decide to trade them, they need quality and proven players.

Meh, I'd take their current players over Kerfoot at their top-6. Eberle, Schwartz, McCann, Gourde, Beniers will be their core, I don't see much room/use for Kerfoot. They need much better quality to actually compete. Plus 35th overall for rental Kerfoot seems to me a bad investment. Wennberg would take that final slot in Top6 if they don't land any UFAs, Kerfoot is not a huge upgrade from him either.

Habs accept if we can make it Carolina's third, not Montreal's.

Francis likes kerfoot. I think the idea would be they extend him. Helps their forward core, their pk and centre depth. If all else fails he can be moved at the deadline for at least a 2nd. I'm not sure if they would give up their second, maybe the Nashville 2nd. Although I see the op has changed it to the leafs 2nd.

Toronto doesn't make the trade as is. Leafs dropped 2spots and received the blues 3rd. Dropping 8 spots leafs would want a 2nd round pick. This is the going rate to move up in the draft.

I mean if he liked Kerfoot much he would have selected him in the expansion draft, no?

Still, seeing how mid the Kraken are, I fail to see what Kerfoot would add there they don't already have. They're filled with mid-6 talent already.

That is why dubas picked up mccaan. Why did Francis draft a team full of mids and not make any deals? The universe is full of mysteries.

I did list the reasons why Francis would consider it.

Montreal probably declines. They already have the pick immediately after Toronto's, unless there's a player they really want that Toronto will take they'll get the guy they want.

I dunno, jump from 33rd to 26th probably costs around an early third round pick. I mean, for Dallas it cost 3rd round pick to jump from 29th to 26th in 2017 draft.

Toronto has the 25th pick, Montreal already has the 26th pick. There's no reason Montreal would do that trade unless there are two players they want in that range and they think Both will be gone by 33 and/or Toronto will take one, which isn't that likely. If Montreal was targeting a move up, they probably aren't looking at Toronto's pick.

Hey maybe I wasn't wrong.....hence the playoff record. Good for the Leafs this season hitting a homer run with Bunting and Kampf.

But with the cap going up just 1 million. Really getting a 2.5m raise, a NHL goalie is surely going to cost more than 1.6m Campbell this season. I always welcome ideas on how the Leafs can fill their roster this season, without trading one of the big four...(really Nylander). Don't think I seen one practical post yet.

You must have missed my agm's. I even kept mrazek buried lol.

Personally I think the best thing for the team is a Muzzin move. Certainly not the easiest trade to pull off but the most beneficial. Sandin is concerned about playing time and rightfully so. Muzzin is not needed, Leafs can easily sign a ufa vet to sit out games and jump in when needed. Sandin's development demands that he get more responsibility and he has always handled this situations well when Muzzin was out.

I agree with you is Muzzin move would greatly benefit the Leafs. Except I can't see waiving his NTC to a team with cap, and few if no good teams have the cap to take him on. And then the concern is with his health. Again, I just can't see him and his 5.6m cap being traded this season.

I agree, even Muzzin with cap coming back in a position if more need would be useful. I'm not sure that trade exists either.
