Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Blackwood, Mackenzie ($1,400,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The Leafs for the past couple of years have been locked to the cap, no surprise, and one of those pieces that will be traded is Mrazek. And i think trade with the Devils will work because it seems the devils have given up on Blackwood and since his cap hit isn't that much the Devils retains half of it. I also had this in the devils one but didn't have that good of a return for the devils. I think a Mrazek-Blackwood trade would work well for both teams. its just the leafs barely have any draft capital. and they don't have a deep prospect pool. Now Voit is going to still be in the trade because i think he can crack the NHL roster and become a regular one day. I also added Holl because they don't have anyone on there right side of the defense beside Dougie, I think this trade helps the devils a little better
2.
TOR
  1. 2022 5th round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Kase, Ondrej [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Kase is trade to a team that needs depth for a late-round pick. It doesn't have to be the King and the pick varies from 4th to 6th depending on the overall

I’m a leafs and I’m never going to even want Thornton, he isn’t even good anymore. Boosh isn’t gonna sign for 1.5 million, I think he’s gonna leave. Sign Lily for 2 that’s more then enough for him. So if you do all that you’d have about 4 million ish. I’d sign Tyler motte, and if you have enough money left over sign some other bottom 6 forward. Also you might have to add a 3rd in that Blackwood trade cause it may not work

This is so bad. Not only are you dumping holl and mrazek on the devils but you honestly expect them to retain on Blackwood too? lmfao

Edit: auto changed holl and mrazeks names

I'd give up a 5th for Kase, but only if he cleared waivers first. With everyone healthy, he doesn't make the Kings roster, so they would want to stash him in Ontario and have him as a redundancy in case of injuries. They wouldn't give up a pick (even a low round one) if they were just going to lose him to waivers when they tried to send him to the AHL.

Voit has little trade value despite his nice season with Sarnia. Holl has little trade value due to his rental status. Mrazek has little trade value due to his performance and the fact that his contract is back-loaded. Meanwhile, Blackwood has one year left on his contract, after which he becomes a restricted free agent, so New Jersey could have him under team control for at least 4 years if they chose. At his age it's possible that he improves either this season (they sign him to a new deal) or next season (they sign him to a new deal), or later, in which case they still might be able to re-sign him. So he's worth more than those modest assets to begin with, which doesn't even take into account the retention, moderate though it is.
